“Nice suite (at discounted price!)”

I rang up the hotel a week before the Easter Bank holiday and managed to get their New Contempory Suite for a discounted rate of £165 B&B instead of the more expensive price that was advertised.

The room itself was a real treat! It was split level almost like a mini house! The downstairs had a mini sitting room with a big bath in the centre and to the left was the large bathroom with a double shower! Upstairs was the bedroom with a large (and very comfy) king size bed. The general decor was modern but not overly so. Just very clean and crisp. When we first arrived I noticed it was a bit cold but once I'd turned up the (underfloor!) heating up it quickly got warm.

The only downside was that the room was in the courtyard area so when we went for our meal at night it was raining so even though it was a very short walk it was a still a slight inconvenience.

The meal in the restaurant was top notch. Very tasty (I'd recomend the goats cheese starter!) with helpful and attentive staff. I'd really recomend eating there.

The staff at reception were also very friendly and eager to help.

All in all this is a nice little hotel. I'm not sure I would have paid the full rate for our room but at the discounted price I was more than satisfied. It's really worth ringing up the hotel itself to see if they have any special offers on.

“A birthday treat!”

I booked a room and a meal in the restaurant at the White Swan Inn for my partner's birthday. The information on the hotel website was more than tempting although rooms fairly expensive. After booking I checked reviews on trip advisor which raised some cause for concern as not all were favourible. In agreement with other reviewers the traditional rooms are over priced for what can only be described as average accomodation (with a cold, draughty bathroom). The hotel bar and restaurant lacked some background musical ambience but the bar was cosy with real coal fires, reading material and traditional games ( I let him win scrabble for his birthday!). Praise however has to be given for the staff who were polite and helpful and the food in the restaurant which was excellent, matching that served in Michelin star establishments we have visited at half the cost! The breakfast was top nosh as well. True to the hotel's customer charter we were refunded part of the room cost for the complaints we had in relation to our room. Come on White Swan Inn give your rooms a makeover and provide your customers with accomodation that matches your food and service.

My boyfriend spoilt me with a two day break in Pickering.

I wasnt sure what to expect, not being an out doors kinda person! But the white swan fulfilled even more than my greatest expectations. We had a super time, the staff were full of knowledge of the area and we would have been lost as to what to do without them! Dinner was.......I cannot think of a better word than indulgent. I loved it. Simple food that was "almost" as good as my mothers (I could never say it was better!)
Looking forward to a return trip - maybe in the suymmer when its a bit warmer!!!

Recently returned from our second visit to this small market town centre hotel. The location is central and as such rooms facing the street in front of the hotel can be a bit noisy weekend nights. the modern rooms in buildings at the back are much more quiet.
We stayed in the contemporary suite, notable for having a bath in the sitting area downstairs, a great double shower in a wet-room off, and bedroom upstairs.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, though we were late arriving we were still greeted warmly and invited to have dinner before being taken to our room.
The food here is very good local produce, cooked with flair and sympathy although I'm not sure how local the Tuna was? But my rare Tuna steak actually was! A rare thing in the UK, so many places overcook.
I have just two small gripes; I like my coffee decaf, here they brew these individually which takes too long. If i indulged in caffeine I would get a jug, why can't I have my decaf in a jug? Guess I'm just intolerant in the mornings!
Secondly please get larger tables in the dining room. Some of the tables are too small. Staff were constantly juggling things around to make it all fit.
Small gripes that in no way detract from a wonderful stay. We will return
