We stayed at this hotel for three days on their special offer of
stay two days get the thirs at a discount. The hotel is well
situated being in the centre of Pickering and a short distance
from the main road from York to Scarborough. At first we
believed that the traffic noise would be a problem however after
5pm there was very little traffic. The room we were allocated
was basic but clean and well kept with a shower that was the best i have used in a British hotel for some time. The staff were
friendly and the service was very good with nothing too much
trouble. The food was excellent either in r the bar or
restaurant. The meals were well cookecc and presented and
even the most hearty of eaters will do very well. The lounge area
was a little small but still good. The breakfast was superb with
hot toast and coffee/tea with refills. The price of the beer/spirits/wine etc was a reasonable price. For the three days
we paid £280.00 dinner bed breakfast.A BARGIN.Be aware there
is no lift and some rooms are two flights

Stayed for 3 night DB&B basis. We took advantage of the 3 nights for price of 2. The room no 11 was in the new annexe. The room was large and very well furnished including small sofa and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was a good size with large shower over bath. Pity it was not a separate shower.
The room overlooked the inner courtyard/ garden
The dining room was well furnished although the chairs were not very comfortable being very upright and straight....but they did look good. The menu was fairly extensive and the quality good but not exceptional. There was a good wine list but prices a little on the expensive side. Cheapest decent dry white £16.
Breakfast was very good with a good buffet range. The service at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The only small gripes we had were:
a] the area of the bar/bistro for pre dinner drinks was a bit small and basic
b] when we visited the website and booked on line there was no mention that the allowance for dinner was £26. Also nothing to this effect in the e-mails confirmng booking. It did state this on the menu but that was a bit late by then! So we ended up paying extra. Which was unfortunate because it took the edge of what otherwise would have been an excellent stay. Despite that it was very good value for money by virtue of the special offer.
