have just had a lovely day at the "Old Manse Hotel" . My cousins and Aunt are staying here, and today we had a family gathering to celebrate my Aunts birthday. The Manse is just beautiful and the food and the atmosphere A1. Val pulls out all the stops to make your visit there perfect, she spends time and effort on every detail. The staff are all genuinely attentive and ensure you have everything you need to make your stay memorable. The Manse was the place my parents met, when it WAS a Manse, my father lived there, and my mother was evacuated there in the war. The Old Manse is the perfect venue for any memorable occasion, we hope to return again soon .....

We spent 4 nights staying with my mother, Valerie and her staff made th whole visit a real pleasure, all were helpful and freindly. The hotel has a very warm and freindly atmosphere and you feel that nothing is too much trouble as was proved on a day when my wife was unwell, food was delivered to the room and lunch was provided at very short notice, we could not have asked for better service.
One of the highlights is Valeries cooking which is fantastic, the quality and choice of food she offers would out many far bigger establishments to shame, and it is all served in immaginativly and in huge portions !, a large appettite is a must !
All in all one of the best small hotels I have stayed in and with a level of care and service that is rare to find today !

My Husband and I have just stayed one night in this hotel on a spur of the moment weekend away. We would recommend it to anyone, having being welcomed on arrival with a nice pot of tea we sat on the patio and soon shook off the stresses of the week. The staff are lovely and the breakfasts are excellent, we will certainly go again maybe for a little longer next time. Pity it was back to work on Monday :-)

My husband and I spent one night here and thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay. Val greeted us with a pot of tea served in the garden, which, after a day walking was very much appreciated. Our room was airy, bright and relaxing and had a very comfortable bed. We had an evening meal here that would rival many restaurants - absolutely delicious. The vegetarian/vegan choices were more varied and original than most restaurants. The choice of breakfast foods was suggestive of a host who realises the importance of pleasing her guests and again the quality of the food and the cooking was outstanding. All members of staff were very friendly and professional. We took our dog, which, made our trip that much easier but non dog lovers need not worry about doggie smells or barking or hairs - there wasn't any of this. The entire hotel/b&b was spotlessly clean and well maintained. A true gem in a town of many guest houses. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
