We spent eleven nights at Coombe Mill recently (early October 2011) with our two children and two dogs. The location is charming, if a little away from amenities. I would advise to go when the weather is fine as the steep hills down to the properties are not the most comfortable approach in wet leaves or (I imagine) ice. The welcome we received was non-existant - we arrived at 2pm from Oxford knowing that we couldn't check-in until 3pm, but we thought we could park the car and walk the dogs. We were approached by Fiona who gruffly said "You're early and the property is not ready". There was no field available to walk the dogs in despite the website saying so. There is decking in places where there shouldn't be - our toddler slipped off a small decking bridge leading to our garden on to the concrete below. We told Nick and Fiona (separately) about this and neither feigned any interest in his well-being. Upon checking out we were questioned about what we had consumed during the week from reception despite initially volunteering the information (I thought this was an honesty shop??).
That said, the property (Water Mill) was lovely and Nick's feed run is great for the kids. Fiona told us when we left she had spent two weeks on marketing - my advice is to spend two minutes upon her guests' arrival and check-in pretending she cares, even if she doesn't. The website is also misleading in that it overstates the grandeur of facilities (eg. the kids play room). If you have kids, consider Hengar Manor up the road. The entertainment for them is excellent.
