We were lucky enough to eat there on two consecutive evenings (Friday & Saturday) as part of a competition prize that also included two nights in their gorgeous Uphill Suite (see separate review). We had an amazing six course Taster menu on the Friday, which allowed us to sample a wide range of their food, and every dish was a perfect work of art, as well as tasting incredible! It is the best food I've had in the West for a long, long time. Even the pre-dinner nibbles like roasted nuts and olives, and the home-made breads, were delicious. We ate 'al la carte' on Saturday and had a mix of favourites from the previous evening and some of the other dishes we hadn't tasted before. All were amazing in presentation and taste again. Just quite, quite exquisite. We have been recommending it to all our 'foodie' friends!
The breakfast, should you decide to stay the night, was served in the light & airy conservatory and was top-notch too. A full english, made with quality ingredients, that still allowed room for the lovely fruit, toast and cereals. As the sun came out we then had a top up of the great coffee and sat in the private garden to enjoy it. They are open for coffe, light lunches and afternoon teas from 10am-5pm too, although we didn't get to taste these as my stomach wouldn't stretch that far! I can't imagine that they'd be anything less than perfect though!
Throughout our meals and stay the staff were professional, knowledgable, friendly and really helpful, even when the restaurant was full to bursting on Saturday night. It made for one of the most relaxed and indulgent weekends I've ever had, which are few and far between since having children! The whole setting is just great too. It's just off the seafront in the quiet end of town, in a huge Victorian townhouse that has been beautifully decorated with a fantastic mixture of period features and modern facilities. Lighting, flowers - everything really - was just perfect.
A huge, huge thank you and well done to Amy, Kate and all their team. We'll be back!
