I stayed at the hotel two weekends ago with my wife. I just wanted to say a big thank you to Lisa who made our stay !!!
We asked reception if they had a travel adapter as we had forgotten ours. We were told by reception that they had ran out, and that we could get one in the town centre.
Lisa who was standing next to the desk said We have another hotel next door let me go and see if they have one.
After ten mins she knocked on our door with the adapter WOW the fact she was so friendly and nothing was to much trouble!!!!
This is a great hotel! we asked her what she did and she said she was covering the housekeeping! Well Lisa the room was spotless thanks again

ROOM: perfect, very clean and swish, bathrom was a good size with a massive shower head, nice warm water with good pressure. Lovely little plasma screen, complete tea/coffee facilities and good range in mini bar if slightly pricy (half bottle of moet at £30!). Not a speck of dirt anywhere, even in spaces that are normally missed, e.g. scurting boards and top of wardrobe etc. The only reason for our 4 star rating is that i feel the room could have been slightly bigger. We ordered some sandwiches and hand cooked chips for £16 which were delivered quickly by a well dressed room service lad. Food was more than expected, had chrisps and salad as well as 3 pieces of bread in sandwich. Best chips ive ever eaten too!

STAFF: always helpful, very quick check in, no fuss but be warned they take a £100 holding deposit which we were not expecting and isnt mentioned on web page.

REST OF HOTEL: itslike being in someones home, all fluffed pillows and todays newspapers, did not use bar, resturant or leisure facilities becasue we spent most of our time in London town but menu looked amazing if not slightly pricy, approx £40-50 a head for satrter to desert.

LOCAL AREA: approx 10 minutes walk from train station or 5 minute on bus #371. theres some nice shops on way, Aveda, Crabtree and Evellyn, Fat Face etc as well as 3-4 local pubs which were very busy but in no way rowdy. tescos is down the road for neccessities and a 24 hour convenience store too as well as many resturants and take outs from a Nandos to nice chineases and Indians. " minutes frim the hotel is themost amazing view, beautiful at sundown which you can watch after buying a drink in the oub and siting on benches outside. A beatuiful park belowwith lovelly walk/job route along canal. Whole area is best described as rather 'top end' , i.e. where rich business people live!!!! London is easy to get to on District line straight to Westminister for example being 20 minutes away.

On the whole we were well chuffed and would definitly go back.

Great hotel for family holiday to Windsor and London

We stayed at this hotel for a recent trip to London and Windsor. We hadn't been to Richmond which was beautiful and we decided to spend more time there than planned. Good connections into London and Windsor from railway station which is about 15 minutes walk. The hotel was very good: excellent pool - mix of rooms in terms of style (some more traditional in the older part of the building, with some contemporary) - and courteous and helpful staff. We had a great stay.

My husband booked this as a treat for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed one night as we were booked to go to The Glasshouse restaurant in Kew (fantastic, by the way!). When we arrived at 2.15pm we were told our room wasn't available as they had been very busy. We said we'd have a drink in the bar while we waited, however the service there was extremely slow too. We wanted a light lunch and ordered from the bar snack menu. The food was good but pricey - over £8 for a small salmon baguette.

Our room was on the ground floor and it was much smaller than either of us expected, but quite clean. When I went to run a bath I discovered there was no plug so we had to wait half an hour for room service to deliver one!

After our evening out, we got back to the room to discover a letter slipped under the door telling us they are very busy and suggesting that if we wanted a seat for breakfast that we should get there earlier rather than later! Breakfast is served between 8am and 10am on a Sunday which is early enough on a rare trip away without the children. I wrote a letter in response outlining the problems we'd had since arriving and saying I thought it was unacceptable to suggest that if you want breakfast at 9.30 you might not be able to have it. Surely a four star hotel should be able to accommodate all it's guests individual requirements? I dropped the letter into reception but by the time we had checked out we had received no response at all.

We arrived for breakfast at 9.15am, did manage to get a table (!) only to discover the food was largely cold, warm at best. The toast was bread with a slight tan and there was enough butter on the table to cover approx one slice of it.

When we checked out, they tried to charge my husband for someone else's bar tab. My husband complained about the breakfast but was still charged for it. Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel. We have stayed at many other, much less expensive hotels and had bigger rooms and better service. The location was, however, lovely and I would highly recommend a trip to The Glasshouse if you are ever there!

A lovely hotel, sympathetically refurbished with very friendly staff and only a few minute walk to the centre of Richmond. The bedroom was very comfortable and immaculately clean and the breakfast offered everything you could wish for. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates quality.
