Booked with the Richmond Gate as it was the only available hotel in town that was both close to the event we were attending, and with a reasonable amount of parking.
Whilst there were no real problems - room was clean, staff were polite, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was pretty good, we thought it was over priced for what it offered (equivalent rate for the same night from the Petersham was £20 cheaper).
The room was a little tatty around the edges, and also small for the money we were paying. There were a couple of points where we hit language difficulties as many of the staff are not English speakers. For example when trying to ensure that our room was available early when I phoned up I got passed between several staff who had problems understanding what we were saying, there was also confusion on an adjacent table at Breakfast with someone trying to order decaf coffee.
It looks like they have recently replaced their in-room TV's with widescreen LCD models, which are very nice, however the system providing the TV channels is locked onto 4:3 aspect so all the TV channels looked stretched.
In general, it's not bad, and has the potential to be a decent hotel, but for the current level of service is overpriced.
