On arriving at this hotel it looked fine if not a little pricey so I was expecting a very nice room. We paid £130 a night for our stay so when I eventually got into the room I was very dissapointed. The room was tiny and dated with furniture that was coming apart, there was only enough room for the double bed and to walk around it. The view was none existent, into a car park and the side of the hotel next door. The bathroom was awful as my pictures show, rusted shower head and soap dish, even the paper coaster which had the glasses on was brown round the edges. Also whilst in the bar having a night cap at around 1.30am the fire alarm went off. Slowly but surely people were coming out of their rooms in their pajamas into the rain which we did also. We stayed there for around 30mins and the fire engine had arrived and the firemen went in. We decided to come in from the rain. the alarm went off shortly after so we went to bed but at no point did I see a member of staff directing us or even seeing if we were ok outside. The setting for breakfast is nice in the conservatory but don't go for the poached eggs as they were undercooked and therefore I could not eat them. There were some good points, the bar staff were very friendly and accomodating.
On the surface this hotel seems to be everything that it promises of a four star, but falls far short of that on experience. I realise that there are more expensive rooms in this hotel which may be like the picture in the brochure but mine and the other people in our party certainly didn't see them!
