It was not especially crowded. I recommend hiring a guide - I believe our hotel recommended our guide - which was money well spent. These temples are far better preserved than the ones in Greece. Enjoy!

Just returned from Sicily, can't wait to go back there is so much to see one week is not enough. I spent two days just at the Valley of the Temples, took over a hundred photo's and just marvled at the beauty of these ancient temples. The only problem I had is that even though I am Italian I can't speak or understand Italian, when I go back next year if there is a lovely lady who understands Italian and who would like to go togeather e-mail me. johndusmc6769@aol.com

The Valley of the Temples really must be seen if you are at all interested in the history and archaeology of Sicily. Some of the best Greek temples in the world, conveniently clustered together.
Now the warning - this site can be very busy, and more importantly, very,very hot in Summer. Think of the bowels of Hades and add a few degrees. There is also very little shade. Hats, light clothing and water are a must, and don't press on to the last temples if you start feeling the heat! A hire car with aircon is a great place to retreat to...
