Went there for a famiy trip consisting of members age ranging from 1,5 to over 60 years old. Obviously everyone had different needs: my wife and I were looking for snowboard facilities, teenage kids were looking for fun and entertainment, while the rest was looking for a combination of these relevant for their age. We picked apartament option due to willigness of self-catering. Al Sole proved to be nearly perfect. Let me start with the negatives as these are easier to list: water temperature in the infants pool was freezeing cold (in fact this was the first and only time our daughter had cried only upon touching the water- and she is used to various temperatures!) and honestly this was most annoying thing of all my complaints, secondly we were not able to find free parking in the vicinity hence we ended up paying for the hotel garage for our car, thirdly infants "club" was useless and boring for our baby girl- there were 3 tables with chairs, couple of Italian table games and a tv. Fourth complaint goes to selection of tv channels which were practiaclly limited to Italian and few local German I have never heard of. That's pretty much it for complains, which means that I would genuienly recommend this place to anyone and am very likely to visit it again- because after all we didn't go to Canazei to watch tv, driver around the town in a car etc. We were there for the snow, great Italian food (and wines) and proper rest. Al Sole will provide you with all of this:
The hotel is surprisingly well sound-proofed: unfortunately I am light sleeper however combination of mountain air and build quality meant that I was able to sleep for as long as I wanted without any distrubtion-mind that we stayed there during high season so all rooms were occupied. You can really see that the hotel was renoveted relatively recently as everything appears brand new. I was actually surprised to learn that this was a 3 star hotel as my impression was of it being on par with 4 stars objects I had stayed at.
It is extremely close to all the attractions of the town however at the same time situated in a quiet little local street. A perfect mix.
There is 5 minutes walk to the cablecar station however one walks down (which makes it easier). For the way back there is ski piste #5 that finishes above hotel (some 2 minutes walk) which again means walking down. Hotel restaurant was surprisingly cosy, with delicious food and prices similar to that of other restaurants in town. There are 2 large food stores in town: one (co-op) being some 2 minutes walk from the hotel, the other (Spar) situated in the other part of town which meant 10 minutes walk. There is also bakery, great local food and spirits shop and butcher in close vicity of the hotel.
Staff has proven to be extremely nice and friendly and even though many of them spoke only little (or none) any language to Italian they all did their best to assist.
As mentioned the hotel has been renovated few years back and it shows in a positive sense. Bathrooms are very nice and clean, the kitchenette although small it quite practical, the beds are comfy. Our room overlooked mountains and had large balcony with entrance from both rooms. I suppose this can be great place to spend time in the summer. Due to winter we simply enjoyed the view from the inside :-). Speaking of winter: each room has own temperature control on the wall which meant that we were able to heat it up whenver needed to desired temperature. And this does matter if you just come down really cold after whole day of snowboarding...
Overall really impressed with the stay. I do love Italian Dolomites and places like Al Sole only assure me that there is a reason I want to come back over and over. Highly recommended hotel!
