This hotel looks lovely in the brochure, but the room offered to us was dark, slightly grubby and with a balcony that overlooked the back doors and stairwells of a local block of flats. Teenagers made noise and revved up motorbikes at the side of the hotel right outside our room, which meant you were unable to have the windows open. The bedrooms are not airconditioned, which made it very hot and stuffy. They were still shouting at 2.30 am on our first evening. We tried to change rooms, but reception was unhelpful - you booked through an agent and that is all you are entitled to. We had the lift next door to us too!! Although I have to say the shower room was large and good.
Breakfast was good, but unfortunately we had booked halfboard! Dinner was very hit and miss with vegetables being particularly poor. Dinner was served from 7.30 to 9.30 and we learnt that going in for dinner at 8.15 meant that you did not always get hot food! It was obviously prepared for 7.30!! This was especially noticable on the last night where a buffet of what appeared to be the week's leftovers had been laid out for 7.30. It was probably hot at 7.30 but was definitely cold at 8!! We actually left and ate at a good, but expensive, restaurant close by.
The staff were not helpful - apart from the young head waiter, barman and our chambermaid who were cheerful and talked to you, which seemed to be beyond most of the others.
On the last evening I went into the restaurant before service at about 6.30 to see the dinner menu, the barman (not the nice one!) shouted from the door and then flew up behind me very agressively demanding what was I doing there. Then an older man I had not seen before, who I took to be the hotel manager, arrived. I explained I was wanting to see the menu as dinner had been so poor the night before and we might well go out to eat. Again the magic words - you booked through an agent and that food is all you are entitled to! I suggested that it would be good to teach his barman customer care and some manners, at this point the manager just shrugged!! I think that shrug just about sums up this hotel!
