We found this place & the staff really good. The price off season was GREAT for what we got - especially when compared to other places we had stayed. The vista was awesome, the food good & the service good too. Parking was easy to access & the room / bathroom good size for European hotels. We spent many hours on the balcony - we had intended to stay x1 night & managed to squeeze in 2. Would definitely stay here again.

I don't know why so many people have problems with the staff at this hotel. When we were there they were all polite and friendly, we got smiles from everyone we spoke to and all were helpful. We were expecting the worst but were pleasantly surprised!

I thought the food was pretty good, portions were fine and we were always filled by the end. i guess some people can pack more away than others but a big bowl of pasta followed by a meat/fish dish and a small dessert was fine with us. The veg was usually a bit shrivelled up i guess. some of the desserts were a bit weird so i stuck to the ice cream! vegetarians might struggle with menu.

We had a 2nd floor room with balcony which had great views as expected. the room was a good size, as was the bathroom but the shower was pretty tiny. the power plugs were a bit weird and we couldn't use our iron, so i had to go about in crumpled clothes, which never bothered me too much.

overall a pretty good hotel, maybe a little outdated but nice. I heard the water in the pool was freezing tho.

We've stayed at the hotel for one night during our trip to Italy. We were shown two different rooms - one with a balcony (120 euro) and one without a view at all (100 euro).
The one without a view was small and unpleasent so we took the one with (the great) view.
The hotel is well maintained but too old. The stuff (except from the lady in the front desk which was a little bit nice) doesn't have any customer related approach.
The hotel doesn't give you good value for money.
The location is excellent - 100 meters from the dock to Bellagio island and 100 meters to the city center.

BTW - If you're looking for a nice place to eat, Go to Lugano pizzeria - it's very tasty, cheap and othentic.

Must admit that I was really worried about staying here when I'd read some of the reviews but had nothing to worry about. Both my husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We had a 1st floor room with a balcony which was spotlessly clean with AC which we really needed. The view was wonderful. The hotel was in an ideal place for the ferries and town centre. We enjoyed the food as we were determined to try everything and it was lovely. Yes the portions were small but how much do you want when its a 3 course meal - I've had smaller. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and even chatted to us when we met them around Menaggio outside of the hotel. My husband even had a laugh and a chat with the owners.
It was everything we could have wished for and very good value for a 3 star hotel.
In our opinion you get what you give and nobody had a bad thing to say about the place when we were there.
