“Great location”

Golden Tulip Tritone Venice Mestre

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights 28 & 29 Feb 2008 it was a great location for a hotel as it was close to the train station which was perfect for getting into Venice.

After going to Venice I am very very glad that we didn;t stay on the Islands. The rooms were clean and comfy and the breakfast was good.

Staff was very helpful and even when we got in at 2300 on the day we arrived they had a smile on thier face and were very pleased to see us.

There is a macdonalds, pastry counter and little shop across the road and a nice little resturant 5 min walk from the hotel. IF you do stay here don't bother with taking the buss cause it gets packed just hop on the train it is €1 each 1 way and is much nicer to use. ticket machines are very easy to use and the staff are friendly.

1 down fall with the hotel was that they need to explain to all thier guests how to use the room key card cause some numpty didn't explain to our neighbours that they need to put thier key card in the slot by the door to operate the lights so they keppt opening and closing thier doors to keep the light on :0( at 1am it is not welcomed.

BUt it was a great stay good price too.

Hi there,

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for New Years Eve 2007, 4 nights from Sunday 30th December to Wednesday 2nd Jan 08. We paid £64 per night b&b with Expedia. There are 2 hotels opposite the train station but don't make the same mistake we did and go into the one exactly opposite, the entrance to the Tritone is round the corner to the right.

Getting to the hotel was easy, we managed to share a cab from the airport with another English couple heading for Mestre train station (which as mentioned above is opposite the hotel) and the cab cost EUR 30 in total.

Hotel room was nice, quite up to date, bathroom was of a good standard and everything worked well. Bed was nice and comfy too. Breakfast was of a good standard but don't expect a hearty fry up, continental breakfast is the lay of the land here with some crispy bacon aka American style which wasn't to my taste but may be to yours! Cereal was good though and they had yummy pastries too, plenty of coffee so all in all thumbs up for the brekkie!

Train ride into centre of venice took literally 10 mins and cost approx EUR3 each. You then get on a vaporetti (water taxi) to various destinations (we bought 3 day passes which cost approx EUR 45 each so you could hop on and off any stop you liked all day every day). Venice itself is lovely although if you're like us and not an art lover then 2/3 days there will be plenty. Lots to see and do, for us highlight was New Year's Eve as we got engaged on a gondola! Knew gondola was going to be expensive (cost £80 for 40 mins) but then you don't come to London as a tourist and miss out on a black cab/red bus/buckingham palace etc etc do you so well worth it.

All in all definitely recommend this hotel as it was a fab alternative to the more pricey hotels in Venice itself and was equally of the same 4 star standard. Personally I don't see the point of spending £200 a night on a room in the centre of Venice when you're hardly in it all day because you're exploring beautiful Venice anyway!

“Good hotel on a good spot”

Golden Tulip Tritone Venice Mestre

We stayed in Golden Tulip Tritone Venice Mestre for 4 nights. The hotel is not situated in Venice but on the mainland in Mestre. The hotel is situated across Mestre railway station and busstop. With a train of with bus (line 2) you got a direct route to Venice, it's simple and cheaper than a hotel in Venice.
The breakfast buffet was ok / good, the rooms spacious but the don't have a bar. For a bar they direct you to hotel around the corner. But the train station is also a good alternative with a coffeebar and other small shops.

I visited this hotel on March 2007. The hotel is next to the train station of Mestre, Venice, one of the best locations you can imagine. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff was very kind. The next time I will visit Venice, i will stay at the same hotel.

As I can see, we have spent 89€ per night.
