recently on a family trip we stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, and believe me, its the best option fo explore venice. it is exactly across the street of the mestre train station, which is the last stop before arriving in the Venice main train station Santa Lucia (only a 10min ride for 1 euro).

though the rooms may seem a bit overaged, they have a flat LCD TV, a huge bathroom, safe box and AC. Also, the breakfast is quite above average in comparison with other european hotels, coffee made on request of course (its Italy !).

Good choice for traveling in northern Italy.

“Very good deal and convenient location”

Golden Tulip Tritone Venice Mestre

The hotel was very good, quite big and comfortable rooms, good service, free internet and great breakfast.

The hotel is right in front of the bus station that takes you to Venice in about 10 minutes and buses run very frequently. There is also a very good bus that runs from the airport and stops right in fromt of the hotel. The area around the hotel, though, is not that nice. I recommend you have dinner in Venice and go to the hotel at the end of the day.

This hotel is located just infront of Mestre train station so it's very handy for trains to Venice (just 5 minutes away). Rooms are nice but a bit small. Breakfast is good and service too.

“Great location”

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights 28 & 29 Feb 2008 it was a great location for a hotel as it was close to the train station which was perfect for getting into Venice.

After going to Venice I am very very glad that we didn;t stay on the Islands. The rooms were clean and comfy and the breakfast was good.

Staff was very helpful and even when we got in at 2300 on the day we arrived they had a smile on thier face and were very pleased to see us.

There is a macdonalds, pastry counter and little shop across the road and a nice little resturant 5 min walk from the hotel. IF you do stay here don't bother with taking the buss cause it gets packed just hop on the train it is €1 each 1 way and is much nicer to use. ticket machines are very easy to use and the staff are friendly.

1 down fall with the hotel was that they need to explain to all thier guests how to use the room key card cause some numpty didn't explain to our neighbours that they need to put thier key card in the slot by the door to operate the lights so they keppt opening and closing thier doors to keep the light on :0( at 1am it is not welcomed.

BUt it was a great stay good price too.

Hi there,

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for New Years Eve 2007, 4 nights from Sunday 30th December to Wednesday 2nd Jan 08. We paid £64 per night b&b with Expedia. There are 2 hotels opposite the train station but don't make the same mistake we did and go into the one exactly opposite, the entrance to the Tritone is round the corner to the right.

Getting to the hotel was easy, we managed to share a cab from the airport with another English couple heading for Mestre train station (which as mentioned above is opposite the hotel) and the cab cost EUR 30 in total.

Hotel room was nice, quite up to date, bathroom was of a good standard and everything worked well. Bed was nice and comfy too. Breakfast was of a good standard but don't expect a hearty fry up, continental breakfast is the lay of the land here with some crispy bacon aka American style which wasn't to my taste but may be to yours! Cereal was good though and they had yummy pastries too, plenty of coffee so all in all thumbs up for the brekkie!

Train ride into centre of venice took literally 10 mins and cost approx EUR3 each. You then get on a vaporetti (water taxi) to various destinations (we bought 3 day passes which cost approx EUR 45 each so you could hop on and off any stop you liked all day every day). Venice itself is lovely although if you're like us and not an art lover then 2/3 days there will be plenty. Lots to see and do, for us highlight was New Year's Eve as we got engaged on a gondola! Knew gondola was going to be expensive (cost £80 for 40 mins) but then you don't come to London as a tourist and miss out on a black cab/red bus/buckingham palace etc etc do you so well worth it.

All in all definitely recommend this hotel as it was a fab alternative to the more pricey hotels in Venice itself and was equally of the same 4 star standard. Personally I don't see the point of spending £200 a night on a room in the centre of Venice when you're hardly in it all day because you're exploring beautiful Venice anyway!
