We stayed here for one night but was very glad that the was all. We had booked two larger rooms but on arrival found that half the hotel had flooded and we would have to be swapped to a much smaller room. When we asked "how small?" , the man looked at us and said bluntly "Very small". He wasn't joking. It was basically a shoe box with a toilet. I'll admit, the bathroom was nice but the room attatched with our two beds made me feel as if I was in a cage. For one night, we managed, but at the price we paid it wasn't good enough at all.

All they offered us was the 10 Euro hotel parking fine to be removed. On a more positive note, the entrance was nice, and the breakfast was quite good. The staff were also nice and skilled in many languages which we were imprssed by. The feeling of being in Italy made it all better and despite our misfortunes, we were out almost all day and all night so were not too distressed. My advice? Yes, mestre is much cheaper than Venice but if your staying for more than one or two nights, or need comfort, I might look elsewhere. If you really don't care, this place is very convienient and getting to Venice is easy.

Club hotel gave us great value (less than £50 per night). The reception staff were very helpful & spoke good English. Our room was at the front and had a very good sized balcony from which you could see the bus stop for transport into Venice- buses every half hour and a 20 min journey time into Piazza Roma-it's best to buy your tourist ticket from the ACTV kiosk at the airport for unlimited travel on buses & vaporetti. The room was clean, with an enormous bed and the bathroom had everything you could need including a hairdryer (a good bonus) and the towels were plentyful, fluffy and changed daily. We had read other reviews of Mestre before we went which said it was industrial and dead at night- this could not be further from the truth. The centre of town- 2 stops on the bus (5mins) and a 200yd stroll down by the side of the hospital brought you on to Piazza Ferretto, the pedestrian centre, which was buzzing in the evening with designer shops, plenty of good bars & some great restaurants- look out for the Corte Sconta in Piazzale Candiani just 50 yds off P. Ferretto- it's great on seafood, pasta and pizza to die for, we went a couple of times and it was busy with about 90% local customers- always a good sign! Another good place is in a tiny Piazza in front if the Teatro.

All in all, this is a great place to stay if want to avoid the ridiculous prices in Venice itself, and having to drag your cases up and down the narrow calle's, don't forget there is no transport there apart from the water!

“Friendly hotel”

Club Hotel

3 Aug 2007

Well situated hotel set in a quite area despite the main road in front. Easy access to both Mestre and Venice city centres.
Room was comfortable and spacious with a mini bar and en-suite. Bathroom was lovely although the shower curtain wasn't very efficient.
Hotel staff were friendly and spoke excellent english. Breakfast was average although the breakfast room was a little small.
Parking was easy and you didn't have to use the hotel parking as streets were quiet and safe.
Overall an above average hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the club hotel in Mestre for 3 nights april 13th - 16th. 3 Star? you must be joking, but hey! one of life's more unfortunate adages is you tend to get what you pay for, at £350.00 for the two of us including flights you can't really complain. describing the hotel as 3 star though is definitely misleading. In britain it wouldn't make it onto a 1 star rating.

No restaurant, no bar to speak of and breakfast catering for a 26 room hotel in a tiny room with six tables made up for guests meant you have to queue in the morning waiting for someone to finish so you can get a table.

Location?, 25 minute bus ride away from Venice but the bus stops outside the hotel and it only costs 1 euro. If you don't fancy that it's a 20 euro cab ride. We flew into Treviso airport with Ryanair 43 euros in a cab or a 5 euro bus ride into venice pt Roma terminus.

The ultimate taste test? Would we go Back?.......No.

We are however completely besotted with Venice and already planning our next trip. This time we'll get accomodation in Venice itself, well, well worth the extra expense if you can afford it.

let me start with the positives because that will be easier!

1. clean
2. helpfull staff
3. ok breakfast

now the negatives

1. hotel room tiny
2. no shower, just a shower head fixed half way down the bathroom wall
3. when we arrived we were told there were no facilities to iron our clothes! we tried to plug our iron into the only available socket and it tripped the switch, when my partener went to investigate we were told that the elctricity supply wasn't strong enough to plug an iron into! so if any ladies who like thier hair straighteners want to stay her then think again!
4. hotel NOT anywhere near Venice centre, bus does run outside of hotel but not reliable and if you want a bus back any later than 9 pm then think again! you will need to get a bus from venice to to mestre train station then get a taxi from there to the hotel which costs a minimun of 10 euros. buses to venice are very uncomfertable and packed!

Mestre is not a nice area to stay in if you want to visit Venice. it is a rough inconvenient area and i would suggest spending the extra to stay in Venice, because lets face it, with the extra money i speant on commuting back and forth to Venice it just wasn't worth the saving

and another thing, if you want ot go to Venice you shouldn't be a Budget traveler because it's just not worth the trip, go to Venice and spend a fortune, it the only way to visit one of the most luxurious beautiful cites in the world.
