We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Please stay away from this hotel. Especially if you are from USA it is very hard to travel to and from this hotel. I stayed with my family of four here recently for 3 nights. It is in the middle of no where, if you don't have a car, you have to depend on taxi or bus to get to this hotel, it is very expensive. 20 Euros from Mestre Railway station. P. Roma is 10 mins. away. Hotel didn't had bus tickets. They charge you 5 Euros to use their shuttle each way to P. Roma, which you have to reserve in way advance. Lot of musquitos in the room. Yes musquitos. Hotel is very old, rooms are very SMELLY. Every other hotel in Venice gives free breakfast, except this hotel. Staff service is terrible, they are very ARROGANT. They charged me 60 Euros per night extra for my kids. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. Do yourself a favor spend little more money and stay on the istalnd. This is not worth it.

“Nice Russott in Venice”

We stayed here during a tour run by Kumuka. The hotel itself was quite fancy looking and the rooms were nice, but the bathrooms could do with a re-vamp. We were given a double room, which unfortunately stunk of smoke. We requested another room, and moved into a twin room. The single beds were the size of a queen bed, which was lovely. The restaurant was nice too.

“Not The Best”

This hotel was part of a group travel package to Italy. It was okay, kind of old with dark red colors, which made the rooms look dim. The walls were very thin and we could hear people in the next room. The staff was fairly friendly and the breakfast and dinner was mediocre. What's with the fruit for desert? I guess it's an Italian thing!

We were really afraid after reading the comments for this hotel in TripAdvisor.
The opinions weren't very good, and because the hotel was booked by the travel agency, we had no references.
My first contact with the hotel was an e-mail requesting information how to reach the hotel from Marco Polo Airport using the bus. The hotel answered in 10 min with really useful information to reach the Hotel – Bus Nr. 5 (costs 2€ per person and tickets can be bought in the airport or the bus), stop in Capital Palace Hotel, cross the steel bridge to the other side of the street and walk 300 meters. The only complain about using the Bus is that the 300 meters we had to walk weren't really safe because there wasn't any walking side and the cars passed half meter from us… But OK, this is not Hotel responsibility.
To reach the Hotel from Venice it's better to stop in Parco San Guliano. This distance is more or less the same, but it's much safer – we could walk in the walking side.
We have also read that the hotel didn't talk any other languages, but always talked with us in English without any problems, and we have also heard the hotel personal speaking French and German with other guests.
Regarding the Hotel, it's an old hotel – I think from the 70´s – with a decoration from this decade, but the hotel was very clean, and the staff was very useful. It was possible to see that the furniture has clearly signs from been used from the last years, but everything was in conditions.
About the breakfast we had also read that in some cases the hotel requested 5€/person to upgrade to continental. In our case, we had no requests about it, and we could have a continental breakfast without anything extra charged, and the food was good and everything was refilled each time necessary.
This is a good hotel to stay if you plan to be in Venice-Mestre and travel to Venice. It's the first Hotel in Mestre, and the Bus takes only 10 min to reach the island.

“Where you shouldn't stay in venice-mestre”

Russott Hotel Venezia

20 Feb 2007

I start by saying that i don't recomend this hotel to anyone.
Everything with this hotel was a lie.

All began by trying to have some information about the hotel with a direct contact with it.
As you can see on their website (http://www.russotthotels.com/index_e.html), they have a beautiful image on the venice island. When i wrote an email to them, they say that they still have a few rooms with the lagoon view. Ok, me and my girlfriend love the view, so we reserve a double room for two nights with continental breakfast by a website travel agency looking foward to spend three days with that magnificant view.
As soon as i get the confirmation about the booking, i wrote another email to the hotel asking if it was possible to reserve a room with that view. On the reply, the answer was positive.

We arrive to the hotel late at night.

The check-in was made and i ask if the room as the lagoon view as confirm on the email and the answer was briliant! "lagoon view?Oh, yes. But you won't see much. You will stay at the second floor but even if you stay in the last one, the view would be the same.", said the employe on the reception.

On the next morning, we open the window and...where was that beautiful view?
All we saw was a sports park with lots of green grass.
No venice, no lagoon, no nothing on that image that they have on the website.

After the conversation on the check-in and after seeing the room view, we were not very happy.

Maybe the breakfast was better.

As soon as we enter the breakfast room, the "manager" of that room ask us if we want to improve our continental breakfast with a hot buffet. We just have to pay 5€ each. We acept, sign the request and another room was indicated.

Since we were on holiday, we didn't see the time.

After just 5 minutes of staying on the room, the employes start taking all the hot buffet away!
We as just start eating and still was a few guests having their breakfast.

Do you think this behaviour is correct? This was a extra fee service, guests were still eating and they remove everything away because it was 10am (the breakfast is served between 7 am and 10 am)?

This was the first time this as happen to me!

If it was on time, they should close the room but not removing the food for those who were still inside...don't you agree?

After a short coffee and some eggs (i didn't have time to eat anything else), i went to the reception to make a complain to the hotel manager.

The advise was to write a letter or just send a email with my complain.

A complain letter was made to the hotel manager.

On the next morning, we stayed with the continental breakfast and i have a better breakfast than the day before.

About tue room, not much to say. It's a regular size room with a king size bed. The sheets on the bed had a few holes.
The tv was old with a few channels. English channels? Maybe one or two...i don't remember.
But it was clean.
The bathroom was nice we can ear everything that happens the rooms next door.

A remark:
the room locker was still with a key that was stuck to a big keychain with a sticker of the hotel on top the oldest hotel name (i believe it was ramada but i'm not shure).
I don't believe that a four star hotel should have so litle respect about details and litle things.

If you don't have a rent-a-car or any other personal transportation, i should warning that you need to walk a few minutes to the next bus stop.
The hotel staff don't understand english very well and trying to explain where was the bus stop was almost a nightmare. My english is not perfect but the staff hotel should be able to speek a few languages clear, right? After all, venice is a international holiday spot.

So we just walk until we found a bus stop. Maybe this wasn't the bust stop (because the bus that they have said to catch didn't stop there) but it was the only one that we found after following their words.

This hotel is not near a atm (cash machine) so have money with you.

After two nights and three days we made the check-out.
The hotel managar still didn't have any answer to us.
We paid the 10€ for the hot buffet.

I will come back to venice because i love it and the carnival what something of another world.

Russott hotel?Never more!

With the same money that i spend, i can book a better hotel with a better localization.

Thanks.
