We stayed 19th - 26th September 2007.
We found the hotel, clean, bright and modern.
The location was great, a 5 minute walk to the centre of Riva and the lake.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The room was cleaned daily and the bedding and towels were also changed daily as well.
The food, both at breakfast and dinnner was a buffet and was varied and tasty - something for every palate, however you should get there early to take advantage of the full menu.

There are plenty of free parking spaces for those who have a car (which we would recommend to get around the lake).
Although we didn't use the pool and surrounding garden, they were both very well maintained and clean.

We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel which was very quiet. The road at the front of the hotel was busy at times.

We stayed at the Luise for our honeymoon. On arrival we had to wait 2 hrs for us to get into our room, we were told they were cleaning it. We originally booked a superior room and were upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor. To get the suite it was worth the 2 hr wait.

The hotel was spotless, our room was cleaned and fresh towels laid out daily.

The food was superb, a fantastic starter buffet followed by a choice of 2 pasta dishes and 2 meat/fish dishes with veg, and a choice of 3 - 4 desserts plus ice cream.

When ordering drinks they wouldn't accept money for them at the time, everything was signed for, to keep track of what we had bought we paid our drinks bill the next day at the reception.

Its a short walk into town, with a bar 2 minutes away from the hotel. The garden at the rear of the hotel is great with a gazebo and sofas.

We had trips to The Dolomites and Verona. The ferry trips to the other resorts on the Lake are great and very easy to do.

Would highly recommend this hotel.

We chose Hotel Luise because of the excellent reviews on this website and we weren't disappointed. We had a room facing the front, which I had emailed the hotel to ask for specifically because I had read that it is sunnier than the back of the hotel - unfortunately, as the hotel is on a main route we found it too noisy to sit out on the balcony which was a bit disappointing. However, looking at the rooms facing the back, I wouldn't say that they see more than the early morning sun. Also, possibly because we went quite late in the season the sun went down below the mountains around 5pm, so you didn't really get any evening sun anyway....
Our room was lovely. Spotlessly clean and with great ensuite facilities (the shower was big enough for 2 or 3 people) and I loved the contemporary style.
The food was pretty OK - not the worst I've had in an Italian hotel, and not the best. The starters were varied and of good quality but we found the choice of main course disappointing, and often had to wait for the kitchen to refresh their supplies. On the upside, the waiting staff were lovely - friendly and welcoming.
On the downside, I found the reception not exactly unfriendly, but they made no effort to welcome you or smile when you walked in. I would also have liked to have some decent coffee in the hotel bar after dinner, but it was normally stewed in a pot (I had read somewhere that coffee was on tap and free of charge, but this wasn't the case anyway).
The hotel was well placed for the short walk to the centre of Riva - about 5 minutes and the pool area was nicely maintained with plenty of clean towels and sunbeds.
Overall, I thought the hotel was pretty good and would recommend it to friends.

I have just returned from staying at the Luise, and I have to say on the whole the hotel is of an excellent standard and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, but if you are thinking of staying there and are allocated room 56 dont even unpack your suitcases. There is a large pillar in the centre of the room and behind this pillar there is a drainpipe (or some kind of water outlet). We were regularly woken up by water being drained. The room is also dominated by large mirrors, so you could feel that you were in the house of mirrors. It is also directly opposite the door to reception, which when left open is like being on a railway platform. Other than this I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
