The Liberty Grand hotel is a very nice hotel in Riva, on the lake of Garda in Italy.As you enter the hotel, it is very grand and has a lovely feel to the place.There is a very nice bar area, and a lovely dining hall.The area where the entertainment happens is a little small,but it does the job. Its usually a man playing his keyboard and singing, but its nice to relax to it while drinking a nice glass of wine! Its very impressive as you walk through the hotel with a lovely outdoor pool, and an indoor spa type area with an indoor pool. They do massages and all sorts of girly pampering things at pretty good prices.The rooms however are quite dated, and are really in need of a make over.They have poor facilities and no english channels for keeping up with current news etc.The bed was ok and there is plenty of storage for clothes,but no ironing board or iron.They do have a very resonable ironing service at about £1.50 a shirt,so its well worth forking out £10 to get some clothes done if needed.There are superior rooms but not many of them,so it could be worth the little bit more for the extra quality, and try to book early for them.In the restaurant the food while not outsatnding, was quite nice and you had a varied amount of choice of different foods.We found the staff to be very nice and helpful,as i had my daughter with me they made extra effort where she was concerned.They were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome!
The hotel is situated around 5mins walk from the edge of the lake and town,and has stunning views as you walk out of the front doors.There are lots of places to eat and drink if you don't want to eat in the hotel,and most of them are very good prices and excellent food.
All in all this is a very nice hotel, with good food and drink at resonable prices.The staff are great, and you are in one of the most stunning places for the views in the world. If your not too fussy about your bedroom then you'll have a great time.

My wife and I stayed at the Liberty for 6 days in October. We found it dull, drab and dirty. Refused first room offered, viewed second and rejected it, and finally had to take 3rd choice. Bathroom so small one's knees pressed against shower door if sitting on toilet. Complaint to guide (Maria Pia, who was outstanding) resulted in transfer to almost acceptable room, but with paint peeling from walls, windows that won't close, no writing material, no conditioner,no bedside locker, no hand tissues. 4-star hotel? I don't think so.

First night on arrival herded into corner of dining room where most couples sat alone. Following meal told we must occupy same seats throughout stay. (Not possible now to mix with others at dinner). When I argued, I was told by a waiter that he would decide where we sat!!!! Ordering evening meal 12 hrs before dinner bears testament to ability of chef to plan!

Had a wedding reception one evening and guests directed to another room where there were insufficient cutlery and glasses - two people at our table had to go through a 4 course meal with a fish knife and desert fork!

Whole system set up for convenience of staff rather than guests
Gala meal was a joke - add a course of pasta and give a fixed menu to guests - no choice - a no-brainer now for the chef.

Management was invisible and missed several opportunities to calm troubled waters - eg the evening the wedding reception took place.

I could go on and on but to end on a positive note, the tours were fantastic with Maria Pia stunning everyone with her vast knowledge of local history and customs.

I have no idea how it achieved 4 stars but it was nowhere near the standard of other 4 star hotels that we stayed in and consequently our expectations were never met. I got the feeling that it was a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star.

I travelled with my boyfriend to Hotel Liberty, Lake Garda in August/ September where temperatures were very pleasant (30 degrees on average). We loved the Hotel, our room was a fine size however from reading some of the other reviews I was aware of the tiny attic rooms so I made a request when booking to be put in a larger room.

There is a great pool outside and inside with wonderful spa facilities included in the price, sauna and gym. The staff were excellent, the food was ok but not fantastic.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the town Riva Del Garda but I was so pleasantly surprised. It is full of nice little pedestrain streets with lovely litle shops selling leather, pastas, olive oils and wine and at very reasonable prices. There are some lovely little cafes and restaurants looking out on the lake.

Nightlife is nice here, there is an Irish pub around the corner from the hotel but this wasn't . There is funky bar a few doors down from the hotel if you take a left when leaving the hotel. Down in the main square beside the lake (5 minute walk) there are a few little pubs and a nightclub which is open Friday and Saturday until 4am.

I would strongly reccommend a trip to Verona which is just 1.30 hr away from Riva.

I will be back to Italy!!!!

I don't have a bad word against this hotel! It's the second time i have been to the hotel and i am going back next year! Everything was spot on! It's clean tidy and very welcoming! And as for the food i am a fussy eater and there is nothing on the menue that i would not not!
