“Great Hotel, Great town”

Grand Hotel Liberty

I travelled with my boyfriend to Hotel Liberty, Lake Garda in August/ September where temperatures were very pleasant (30 degrees on average). We loved the Hotel, our room was a fine size however from reading some of the other reviews I was aware of the tiny attic rooms so I made a request when booking to be put in a larger room.

There is a great pool outside and inside with wonderful spa facilities included in the price, sauna and gym. The staff were excellent, the food was ok but not fantastic.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the town Riva Del Garda but I was so pleasantly surprised. It is full of nice little pedestrain streets with lovely litle shops selling leather, pastas, olive oils and wine and at very reasonable prices. There are some lovely little cafes and restaurants looking out on the lake.

Nightlife is nice here, there is an Irish pub around the corner from the hotel but this wasn't . There is funky bar a few doors down from the hotel if you take a left when leaving the hotel. Down in the main square beside the lake (5 minute walk) there are a few little pubs and a nightclub which is open Friday and Saturday until 4am.

I would strongly reccommend a trip to Verona which is just 1.30 hr away from Riva.

I will be back to Italy!!!!

I travelled with The Travel Department in August to Riva. Beautiful area. Some really pretty scenery and some lovely walks to be done. Only went on two organised trips but these were wonderfully organised.

The hotel is beautiful. Rooms were a bit too basic but who goes to Italy to sit in their room. Restaurant was lovely and I am quite a fussy eater but the taff were more than helpful and more often than not gave everybody extra food. Waiters really go above and beyond the call of duty.

Bar was nice and staff here were also good. Riva is a nice spot for a quiet drink. Not a mad nightlife but enjoyable. Do try speaking some Italian as it is much appreciated.

Will definitely go back to the Liberty (would go tomorrow if I could).

“Loved Every Minute of this Holiday”

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a fantastic week at the Hotel Liberty in Riva del Garda. We had read some reviews before we left so were a bit worried about the standard of the hotel but all these worries soon left us as we arrived. We had a lovely room on the 2nd floor, old world Italian style, Our room was cleaned each day and was kept spotlessly clean. The staff were so friendly and even had some Irish words for us each day. The food was really beautiful, a lovely 3 course meal was served each evening, you had to choose your meal in the morning but this was not a problem for us and we had four choices of starter and main course each day. The hotel is in a perfect location for Riva, the centre being just a 5 minute stroll away. The town of Riva is out of this world. You are completely surrounded by imposing mountains and could spend hours exploring the many cobbled streets experiencing a real feel of old world charm. The town has some beautiful restaurants and shops and we can't wait to return to this magical place.

I'm just back from a weeks stay at the Grand Hotel Liberty and overall it was a great experience. The room i was initially assigned was one of the attic rooms and was very claustrophic. There were no other available rooms for a couple of days but as soon as one became available they allocated to me right away. Decor is a bit dated in most of the rooms but some of them have been renovated and are fabulous, two floors, jacuzzi bath and lots of space.

Staff were really helpful and accomodating and overall food was good. If you didn't finish a bottle of wine one night they'd hold it over for you till next day!

Pool was well kept and like the rest of the hotel really clean. I had a hot stone massage in the spa and it was heavenly. Would definitely recommend the Hotel to anyone. The Travel Department had the hotel pretty much booked out so if you don't fancy meeting lots of Irish on your trip this is not the Hotel for you.

My Husband and I spend a week in Riva staying in Hotel Liberty.
The Hotel had 2 saving graces it was in a central position and it had Air Con.
The Hotel had an old world Italian Charm.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and was big enough for our needs. It did need repainting as some of the walls were marked. The room was attended too daily by a friendly chamber maid.
The shower went from hot to cold and had no in between.
Some of the other guests had cramped attic rooms.
The view from our room was beautiful.
We were on a half board basis. Breakfast was average at best. Very limited choice. Dinner was very poor. We had a set menu which had limited choices. We had great hopes for lovely italian pastas and fresh salads. I won't elebrate on the food just to say it was very poor. The wine menu was expensive.
The hotel bar was lovely as was the patio area.
The pool was small but adequate. There was plenty of sun loungers and shady areas around the pool.
Most of the staff were cheerful and friendly.
