Many of the reviews on here are negative and I just want to address that, we spent our honeymoon at the hotel in 2011 and had a wonderful time, the staff were superb, particlularly Mr.Joe who works in the poolside bar.
The Pool is amazing, who needs a beach! although it has changed from some of the photos which appear in some travel agents brochures, there is no separate jacuzzi now, there are jets in the pool at both ends instead.
The accommodation is traditional italian, very clean, but why do people expect modern 'English holiday inn' type rooms, this is a proper taste of italy so go with the flow don't expect our minimalist decor styles, the italians do a decadent ornate style.
Great sandwich shop just a few minutes walk in St.Agnello and the walk to Sorrento is only 15 minutes maximum, we tended not to walk down the main road which is fairly busy with small footpaths, but instead walked down the parallel back roads (check a map) which are very pretty and added no time to the journey.
Food in the hotel is not what we are used to at home, but is traditional italian, if you compare the hotel menu's with those found in Sorrento itself then many of the dishes are found there too, just one word of caution, if you are vegetarian then don't be persuaded to try the roast potatoes which were cooked in some kind of animal fat (and to die for lol) much to my new vegetarian wifes annoyance.
The rooms do have a safe for storing your valuables which we used, and you can get a decent wireless broadband connection in the lobby, just ask at reception for the password.
You can go on the tour operators trips to Pompeii and Herculanium but to be honest we would highly recommend taking the plunge and buying a train ticket, the trains are reliable and frequent and it cost us no more than £15 for both of us to get to and from these places, the tour trips are priced anything from £70 per head onwards from recollection and you can hire an audio phone at pompeii which tells you all about the site (you don't need two, just one to share, same at herculanium. When you get off the train at pompeii it is right by the train station too, herculaniums train station is a short walk down to the bottom of the high street so don't get ripped off by the local taxi drivers, you will be there in less than a minute by car!
We will definitely go back to this hotel, the friendly attitude of the staff is worth it and the pool was perfect, we also like the fact that you don't need money by the pool, you can just add drinks to your room cost and pay at the end of the holiday, not overpriced either!
I've added some photos, but as other have said, this is a perfect place to be based, as for the comments about traffic noise from the road, can honestly say I didn't notice it at all, our room did face the pool however so can't say what it would be like on the other side of the hotel but seriously some people just moan about anything, sorrento seems to be the capital city of the motor scooter no word of a lie you will see whole families on one scooter, dogs, kids you name it, has to be seen to be believed, this is a slice of italy that has to be experienced.
Get Pool facing if possible, it's picture perfect surrounded by lemon trees and well away from t...
