We stayed at the Mega Mare for 2 nights in late october and had a lovely time and would stay there again. The positive things were the incredible views, private parking, simple but clean room (small older bathroom but that doesn't bother us) a nice small balcony, lovely terrace (and pool area) with flowers, and a very good restaurant recommended to us by the staff.
The restaurant was owned by a relative and was a typicle family style place, and the food was excellent and very resaonbaly priced, and great waitstaff.. A real gem we would never have discovered on our own. The young woman at reception (sorry, we don't remeber her name) was very nice and helpful and arranged a free ride to this restaurant from another relative. He was great and part of the enjoyemnt of the restaurant was getting to talk to Joseph the driver.
The location is too far to walk to any restaurants, and when we considered going to a particluar one in Vico Equense, under 3 kilometers away, Mariano said he could arrange a driver for 35 euros round trip. We felt this was too much, so decided to go back to the same restaurant both nights and did not regret that at all.
My only compaint is the we did not find find Mariano to be warm or very helpful. He answered questions but was abrupt and impatient when you didn't understand or asked for something different than what he was suggesting. he didn't ruin our time, but we would rather have felt some genuine welcoming feeling from him. But the other staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Breakfast here was better than the other 2 small hotels we stayed at because they offered more - several kinds of bread and rolls, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, salami, muesli and yogurt, good juices - so we thought the room and breakfast were a great value. From what we saw during our stay, it would be hard to beat the value and views of the Mega Mare.
