We stayed at The Forte Hotel at the start of June, but unfortunately the actual experience did not live up to the rosy picture painted on their website. Fair enough, the hotel was brand new and was clean and neat, the rooms were acceptable, but the whole experience was ruined by the dodgy air-conditioning and (extremely!) frugal breakfast.
Despite repeated complaints that the air conditioning was having no effect on the high night-time temperatures in the room, no attempt was made to resolve the situation. In fact, at one point we shut off the air conditioning and opened the window which seemed to help a little. In the end we were delighted to move on to our next hotel so that we could get a decent night's sleep.
The breakfast was really disappointing; never mind no boiled or scrambled eggs and no orange juice, the rolls regularly felt and tasted stale, there were no plain croissants, no facilities for making toast, no melon, no pineapple etc., etc.....
In short, the breakfast offered was the plainest you could ever imagine.
All of this was a great pity, as the hotel has loads of potential, with a great pool and and convenient car parking. It's situation, looking out on the beach, is terrific and it is just ten minutes walk from the main town, fifteen minutes walk from the more interesting old town.
In my opinion, this hotel is in no way four star and, unless you intend spending most of your time at the pool and are able to sleep at high temperatures I would suggest that you try elsewhere.
