My partner and I stayed with Maurizia, Stefano and various friends and it was a wonderful place. We were given La Casetta, which is about 20 metres away from the main house. Our accomodation was very generous, consisting of a large bedroom (with self-catering facilities hidden away) and a superb wooden-floored bathroom. It felt like our own house. The main house also offers some appartments.
Maurizia and extended family are delightful: nothing is too much trouble and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Breakfast is first class- all home made- and often we were invited to join the rest of the guests/friends for coffee/ drinks. English, French or Italian is spoken and we were given excellent advice on where to visit, eat etc.
We had never been to the area before. Lazio is very rural but full of interesting spots and is generally cheaper than many other places in Italy. A welcome change from the German/English signs seen everywhere in Tuscany, for example.
Podere Giuliano would appeal to almost everyone- families with small children may be the exception due the large (and growing) number of cats and dogs in the house. For us, they made the experience even more special.
And the price represented incredible value for money.
