The Marcos Beach Hotel has been my Holiday home for the past six years,and I will be back there again next year.Jackie and Marcos Papadopoulos (along with the help of their two Children ) really make you feel welcome, and give you all the assistance and advice you need, especially in helping you book day trips to other parts of Ios Island.A must is a trip to Manganari bay, its where the Movie "The Deep Blue" was filmed.If you prefer to get to any of the bays by your own steam, Jackie (who is english) can arrange your motor cycle scooter or car hire for you. There are many good bars and restaurants to choose from, my favourites are two in the Village "Ali baba,s" which is a thai food, and is really good, also " Pomodoro" which does excellent Italian meals. In Mylopotas, near the beach, their is a traditional Greek restaurant called "The Twins" and for those like Mexican food there is the famous "Harmony " restaurant. What ever you do in Ios, you will go away with great memories.I will definately be in Ios again in 2008. James.From Manchester England.

Im not sure what the person below was talking about because Marcos Beach Hotel would have to be, literally the most hospital hotel i have ever been to. We originally were going to stay in Ios for 2 nights, but after the time that we had there, it was impossible to leave. Jackie (one of the hotel owners) did her best to look after us for the entire Ios trip. We probably weren't the easiest customers to deal with but Jackie and the staff were excellent, they even gave us free tequila shots on one of our many nights out there. The location is perfect, near the village and next to the beach. I couldn't have imagined staying anywhere other than Marcos looking back. We have Marcos to thank for such a wicked time in Ios. Definitely heading back there next year!

I have now been to Ios four times and have always found the Marcos Beach Hotel to be an excellent place to stay. It is only a few minutes from the beach with a great pool/bar area. The rooms are spacious and clean and have a great views. The staff are always happy to oblige by providing extra towels, coat hangers etc when requested and the family that run the hotel could not be more welcoming. The bus stop for the regular buses into Ios Town ("the Village") can be caught from the end of the road and I have never had a problem getting a taxi back to the hotel in the early hours. The breakfasts at the hotel are perfectly adequate - cereal, bread, jam, cheese, ham etc. English breakfast is available for a small supplement for those days when you need something to soak up the previous nights cocktails and shots! I will certainly be returning to the Marcos Beach Hotel and am already looking forward to next year. Recommended places to eat are Basilico (at the beach), The Old Byron and Pomodoro (both in the Village).

I'm surprised by this previous posting and the stealing that happened - perhaps there are new owners from when I went. I stayed there for two nights with my friend (early 20's) and had no such problems - the owner - a british couple with two children - were extremely nice and helpful. We didn't ever leave money in our rooms though but paid a few euros to use the safe in the front desk (which I reccomend doing in Greece at any hotel). A lot of hotels in Greece (as this one does) make you leave your room key at the front desk when going out. The rooms were basically what you you expect for paying so little - dorm style - sheets folded on bed, small bathroom and if you request a room with AC you have to pay for it. But the terrace had AMAZING views of the ocean and the pool area was lovely and very clean. The beach was literally a 2 minute walk. The breakfast was minimal, I have to say - they could do a little more with that. If I were to return to Ios, I probably would not stay here but only because it's very hard to get back to this part of town after going out in the club part of Ios - you are better off staying in that part and traveling to the beach but if all you want is a beach vacation and to explore the town (where the restaurants are) by day and are on a budget - I think this is the perfect choice. Random advice: Lord Byron is the BEST restaurant in Ios - def give it a try!
