Our stay at La Signoria was absolutely amazing. The room was spotless; service at the restaurant deserves top grades. the food was excellent starting from the quality of the ingredients to the execution of the final dish. the premises very well kept. we really liked the location as you get both :tranquillity of the countryside but at the same time you will not be far from the sea (prompt car service from the hotel will make sure you can easily reach the private beach). we truly could not come up with any 'minus'; and we know that other customers feel the same as we kept trying to go back for a month (beginning of october now) but the place is always booked out...we will keep trying.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a weeks stay. The hotel is situated about a 5- 10 minute drive from the centre of Calvi and 5 mins from the airport. Dont let the fact its near to the airport put you off though - we didn't experience any disturbance from it at all as flights are pretty restricted.
The hotel is quiet and the staff unobtrusive. Rooms are spacious and paint effected to within an inch of their lives! I didn't mind this but some people may be put off by the "busy" decor. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. As I was pregnant at the time my food needs didn't really stretch to the restaurant which was high end French - not to my taste but other guests said it was excellent. Breakfast was good but when we went best taken inside as there were loads of wasps trying to land on your jam!
The website does not do the hotel and its grounds justice - they are much nicer than the pictures suggest.
The pool and "spa" area were good but the pool is not heated.
All in all I have nothing bad to say about this place but I felt it was just lacking the extra something you expect for the price we paid.

We stayed at the Signoria for the first leg of our honeymoon in Corsica - 3 nights at the beginning of May. Although the weather was not quite sunny enough to use the pool and the private beach, we still enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff members - most notably Ronan at reception, Anthony the sommelier, and Peggy and Pascal in the restaurant, go out of their way to make you feel relaxed, special and pampered. The setting is idyllic for couples who enjoy peaceful seclusion and privacy. The rooms are spacious, charming and thoughtfully appointed. One of the highlights of our honeymoon was having breakfast on our terrace with a view of the mountains and farmland. The town of Calvi is nothing spectacular, so I wouldn't recommend this location for anyone expecting wild nightlife. The cuisine and wine list are top notch. We had our wedding at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris and had just come from the Chateau Chevre d'Or in Eze, and we enjoyed the gastronomy at the Signoria just as much. Anthony gave us an education in Corsican wine that inspired a quest for our favorite wine at a small family-run vineyard in the South. We look forward to re-visiting this charming gem of a hotel.

I have just returned from a one week's stay at La Signoria where my husband and I went for our honeymoon. The location of the hotel is stunning - the snow-capped mountains make the perfect backdrop for the lush garden within which the hotel is located. We upgraded from a normal room to a demi-suite: this was a lovely, quite kitsch room with air-con; although the fact that it was on three split-levels meant that much of the living space wasn't really utilised. The hotel added some nice touches such as bringing us freshly-picked roses on our arrival and leaving sweets and the following days weather forecast under our pillow in the evening when they went into our room to turn on the bedside lamps for our return after the obligatory night out. We had decided after reading previous reviews on this website about the expense of the restaurant to go half-board and this was, I feel, a very good decision. The set menu (which we were offered) was 75 Euros per person and, with regards to the extra money that we had paid to go half-board, we had recouped the money after eating there three times. The food itself was fabulous (six small courses each evening including appetisers and petit fours) - the only problem was that there was no choice. I did note though that if people requested a substitute dish the staff were happy to oblige. Staff, in particular the barman and the sommelier were very knowledgable although the breakfast staff were less so, giving me the wrong tea on several occassions, forgetting to lay the tables properly and ignoring requests for extras such as milk, etc. If you are looking for nightlife here is not the place for you. The clientele was a mix of age groups but the bar shut at around 11pm, although this time of the year is not high season. Calvi is only 2.5 miles up the road and a cab will cost you 15 Euros each way. Here you will find some good restaurants and some livelier bars.
We would definitely recommend this hotel. However, I still think they have some way to go (in terms of getting the right staff) for it to be considered top class. On probably three occassions we went back to our room to find the cleaners there which was a bit inconvenient and crucially, they forgot to give us our alarm call on the morning of our departure. That said, it's a beautiful, 'boutiquey' hotel which anyone who does not like minimalist style would probably really enjoy.
