My boyfriend and I were looking in the old town for a place to have dinner. We had been driving all day, were exhausted and our B&B was 2 minutes from the old town but when we got there we could only find 3 restaurants open and it was Monday evening! I'm not sure about the other 2 restaurants (which were directly on the square) but we picked Le Parisien as it had the most people in. Having sat down we were almost having epileptic fits after 5 minutes from the abundance of flashing fairy lights and other tacky nick-nacks all over the restaurant. The starters we ordered weren't that bad and we chose spaghetti for main courses which was ok but really nothing special. From reading the other reviews I am actually quite pleased we didn't order any meat or fish and I think I would have been even more annoyed if we had ordered anything else bar pasta as the food wasn't exactly cheap! The bottle of wine we ordered was a Bordeaux (should be good) but it was probably the worst wine we have ever drunk and we couldn't even manage to drink half the bottle it was that bad. The service was appauling too and I had to go up to the bar and pay in person in the end as the waitress was too concerned with laying new table-cloths rather than taking payments. Needless to say they did not get a tip. If anyone I know is visiting Boulogne-sur-Mer I am going to tell them of this restaurant to make sure they don't go there!
