My son and I stayed at the Cottage Hotel for a long weekend, Oct
last year, for a visit to my Grandfathers grave, (War Grave),
it was a great choise and we had a fantastic time. The staff were
brilliant and the food very good, but most of all the Hotel was
very, very clean. It is only a 2star, but we give it 4. It is an ideal base for touring,very handy for a trip into Belgium, 500 metres
from A16 motorway (Exit 43), 800 metres from the Eurotunnel,
(Exit 42), 800 metres from the beach and 1km from the town
centre. Probably the best little 2 star I've ever stayed in.
Long may it reign.

Hotel basic but clean. Wooden floor in bedroom very noisy. Road noise very bad. Lighting in landing not very good. You could hear every little noise outside in the corridor especially kids running up and down shouting.

When I first saw the hotel, i was very dissapointed. There where 4 single beds in our family room all with brown bedspreads which looked like they came from the 60's. The toilet and shower room had a lovely brown tinge and the loo seat was cracked. The hotel is situated on abusy road, is next to the local football pitch and seemed to have alot of youths hanging around and just accross the road from the railway. However the price was very reasonable and the staff where exceptionally friendly. althought the room didnt look great I am sure the linen was clean. the breakfast was ample.
I would recommend this for a cheep overnight stop when in calais.

After reading some of the reviews before we went, we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. We requested a quiet room and were given an end room. Food in restaurant was excellent and extremely good value. OK the rooms were basic and a little on the small side but we got 3 nights for the price of 2 (over Easter) and were delighted. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless. Towels (beautifully white) changed every day and tea & coffee, biscuits etc provided on a daily basis. This hotel is tops for a short stay, which involves hardly any driving once you arrive in Calais. We cant wait to go again.
