Having completed the journey from North to South of France many times (and with young children), we have stayed in all types of accommodation, so were looking for something to break the journey that was not a motel.
Never having been to Montelimar before and not particularly liking nougat, we were persuaded by the Rough Guide description of the inexpensive meal. We were not disappointed.
Both children being vegetarian are sometimes hard to please when we are travelling in France but the hotel prepared a delightful dinner for them. It was beautifully presented with the vegetables placed artistically around the cheesy potatoes.
Now this might not seem much but it can be hard to enjoy a three (or in this case) four course meal with fussy children in tow but they were bowled over by the elegant service.
There were some unusual customers (I swear one old lady had a dog at her table) but it was a pleasure staying here. I managed to forget my passport (bit of a pain as I did not notice until I'd arrived in Calais) but the owner posted it back to me without a fuss. Great place. Charming hotel with unusual yellow bathroom in our suite but really enjoyable. Food was excellent and came in set €20 or €30 menu options. Children ate for free!!
