The Curling is aimed at large parties - primarily school groups - so don't choose this expecting to be pampered or to find anything more than basic 3 star facilities. Having said this, it does what it sets out to do very well and the staff (all belonging to the British Skibound organisation during our trip) went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Breakfast comprised a basic continental buffet, but quantities were unrestricted with fresh supplies arriving whenever any item became depleted, and the warm croissants and "pain chocolat's were a welcome addition. The inclusive 3 course dinner in our package was largely good with one notable exception where the attempted turkey curry possessed no redeeming features whatsoever and made the dreadful 1960's Vesta packet curries resemble a trip to the Star of India by comparison.
There are 2 bars and adequate facilities for skis, boots and other "sliding clobber" although the antiquated lift was so slow as to make the movement of the nearby Grand Motte glacier seem positively racy. The rooms are, however, generously proportioned compared with the typical French studio or apartment.
The hotel is conveniently situated both in the centre of Val Claret village, and, with good snow cover, virtually ski-in, ski-out. There is undercover parking in the nearby "Golf" building-although this is woundingly expensive but still better than being towed away, for which the authorities exhibit a fiendish zeal, especially for non-French registered vehicles…...
All in all, then, a decent, honest absolutely standard 3 star experience in a great location.
