This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The double room was larger than many suites and was superbly furnished with new furniture, swiss cleanliness and even a walk in dressing room. The atmosphere is unique since you are staying in an old monastery . A walk around the quad after dinner is a great experience. Service is impeccable and the restaurant serves excellent quality food with reasonably priced local wines. In summer it must be marvellous to dine outside on the terrace overlooking the Boden See. Never tried the sauna and the gym is very basic but that is not why you are there. A perfect hotel for a weekend romantic break

Room tip: garden view doubles are huge and well appointed

A delightful hotel on its own small island in Lake Constance next to the town of Constance, the room we had overlooking the lake was very comfortable and the views were splendid, quiet on the lakeside away from the town and railway. A comfortable bar, good food and the sauna was good too. Though we were only there for a night it was a thoroughly relaxing experience and one I would happily repeat

Room tip: Choose the lake view to be away from the town and enjoy the morning sunrise over the lake

Located right on Lake Constance, also known as the Bodensee, the Steigenberger Konstanz is a small hotel in an exceptional setting. We had a beautifully appointed room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The bathrooms and guest room were spacious and elegant without feeling stuffy. The breakfast buffets were excellent with a generous variety of choices as well as attentive service. We also had a lovely cake and coffee in the afternoon and sat outside on the lake patio. The location is an easy walk from the train station, giving us the opportunity to "walk off" some of that cake!

Room tip: Ask for a room with a lake view and bring your camera. You will see swans floating by.

We stayed here as an overnighter, en route to the Dolomites, but found a lot of interest and excellent quality in this hotel.
A full lake view room is a must to appreciate the expansive view across the Bodensee at sunset, which is dramatic even in winter. There are excellent walkways around the hotel which make for a very pleasant stroll and views of the lake.
The hotel is a modernised building, but full of history. Murals around the courtyard depict the major historical meetings and events that took place here. But the overarching historical fact relating to this hotel is that it was once the home to Count Zeppelin, he of the airship fame. Yes, the pioneering steps in aviation were formulated by a man who once lived here, and the hotel is full of pictures of him, his early airships and other memorabilia.
Enough of the history, and back to the contemporary: The access is easy, once you know how to find the hotel; the car-parking is on-site and plentiful, while the rooms are spacious and airy, but modern. There are many public bars, rooms and restaurants which are all nicely furnished.
The only let-down for us was the half-board dinner menu, which was limited in choice and budget, so much so that we had to switch to the a la carte menu at extra cost to find anything we liked. However, the breakfast buffet in the lakeside restaurant was excellent, full of fresh produce and with plenty of choice for all tastes.
Konstanz (or Constance) looks like a town that would be very lively in summer, and we would probably opt to come back to this hotel if visiting.

Room tip: Lake view is a "must".

We chose this hotel for our honeymoon and it lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Our flight from London was cancelled because of heavy storms and the Steigenberger staff could not have been more helpful. We arrived to a beautiful lakeside room and a lovely hand written note from the Hotel Director congratulating us on getting married and wishing us a lovely stay at the hotel and in Konstanz. Our whole trip was a delight. The hotel is beautiful, the breakfast and the view from the breakfast room are amazing. We spent a week exploring the area and walking and mountain biking and of course lots of "Kaffee und Kuchen"! We ate in the hotel a couple of nights and the food was excellent and most nights we'd retire to the Zeppelin Bar for a night cap or hot chocolate before relaxing in our wonderful room. The room was spacious, beautifully clean and the bed was very very comfortable. Thank you!
