We spent a pleasant two nights here this weekend. We had mixed feelings about the trip but overall, a good experience. The main 'cons' were not related to the hotel.
Pros:
- Appearance = a beautiful 'grand' hotel with an exceptional 'Moorish hall' circa 1880s. It really is impressive
- Breakfast = served in the 'Moorish hall'. Worthy of a 5 star hotel. Freshly prepared and delicious with something for everyone
- Location = a pro, and a con. We came by train so the proximity to the train station made arrival and departure very easy
- Dinner = the evening meal was some of the best Moroccan cuisine I've tasted. Perfect!
- Foyer and bar = also stylish and fitting the 'grand hotel'
- Sauna = although only a simple sauna (no other amenities) the sauna area was a nice touch and perfectly clean and well maintained
Cons:
- Location = we made the (false) assumption that there would be a lake view. Having said that, it was convenient. We also timed our visit during the fasnacht, so there was perhaps more noise than normal (and more drunk people!)
- Rooms = our room was 'fine'. Just a little lacking in something. Everything was clean and well maintained but it didn't quite match the 'wow' of the foyer and public spaces. It's not a big 'con' as it was comfortable and we slept well.
- TV = We only saw one non-German language channel on the listing. After searching through, we managed to find one or two others but there wasn't much to cater to non-German speakers.
So, if visiting Constance I would recommend this hotel for quality versus price, and highly recommend the restaurant.
