Show lessYou usually know what to expect at an Ibis and I have used this one before when travelling towards Bordeaux/Spain from the Channel ports. This is far enough from NW England for a first overnight stop. If you are maximising your driving time then Rouen can be a bottle neck and the advantage of stopping here is it leaves you south of the city for an efficient start the next day.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable (and can speak English if your French hasn’t had time to get up to speed). There is no restaurant here for an evening meal which is a disadvantage if you have had an early start from the UK and just want to eat and crash out. (However, there are a couple of places within walking distance but not much to shout about).
The new bed system has been installed but to be honest the old beds were quite adequate and comfortable.
I have two niggles with this Ibis,
1. The room we were given was the smallest I have ever had in an Ibis (it was on the ground floor)
2. The breakfast was a bit on the mean side (usually you can rely on an Ibis breakfast to be more substantial with more choices.
3. Only provided with a small bath towel – no hand towel.
4. There was (someone elses) hair on the back of the bathroom door - very disappointing and (fortunately) not common.
I’ve noticed that Ibis prices have gone up over the years and are not now the great value for money they once were. You can improve the value by paying up front but this is a risk as you would forfeit your payment if you have to cancel. Ibis must have recognised this as there is an Ibis Budget hotel next door which appears to be half the price – (I’ve not had to try out this standard, however, so can’t comment).
Overall this is a reasonable place to stop but NOT great value for money – Ibis are not as good as they used to be.
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your remark which is important for us to improve the quality of our hotel.
Regards,
Vincent MESUREUX
Manager
This hotel is very clean and the service that the employees render is wonderful. This hotel is not in the greatest location, but you will find food, supermarket and Zenith arena across the street. The rooms are small and not really a whole lot of space for luggage but it is a clean hotel.
This typical Ibis Hotel is ideally located for an overnight stay when traveling South from Calais 2 hours to the North. Being on the South side of the Seine one avoids the morning traffic in Rouen when heading on towards the Autoroutes. The Hotel has a locked secure compound at the rear for cars. The staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and pleasent and the breakfast was well up to the Ibis standard. (we did not eat there at night so cannot comment on Dinner).
