I stayed overnight at this Hotel a few weeks ago and won't be returning.
I don't understand why the Hotel gets such good reviews as I found it to be way below the standards I am used to and I have stayed in two Hotels in the area.
I rang to book a room for 1 night and was quoted a price but then was told I needed to stay 2 nights to get that price. As I only wanted to stay 1 night the price was then increased.
When I arrived there was a wedding function taking place and when I returned later a buffet was being served for the function but using a communal area which I had to walk through to get to my room and the music could be heard clearly in my room.
I e mailed the Hotel after I returned home but they didn't even respond so I think that says it all.

I have to admit I am very surprised by many of the reviews for this hotel. We booked it for just an overnight stay for two people as we were travelling through the area. The welcome was warm and friendly when we arrived. We had one bag between us and it was heavy so we used the hotel “lift”. This it turns out is a wheelchair access lift which both terrified us and sent us into fits of hysterics. It’s basically a metal platform inside a shaft and you keep your finger on the button all the time to get you up to the desired floor.

There were dirty cups and rubbish in the window sill outside our room and these remained for the duration of our stay.

The room was pleasant at first sight but when we took a closer look it turned out to be a bit shabby. It seems like it was relatively recently done up but the standard of workmanship was poor and it’s showing now. So photos look great but in reality…

We had dinner in the restaurant as other reviewers had raved on about how good the food was. To be honest it was fine but nothing out of the ordinary and we were to have better later on in small country Inns. We had a window seat and the window was open beside me. There was a cold breeze blowing in and so I asked the waitress if was possible to close it. She replied that she wasn’t physically able to do it and left it at that. No mention of getting a manager or someone to sort it out or moving us to an empty table. So I froze through dinner.

The bar area is fairly modern and a bit sterile, again we found a much nicer “local” pub up the road.

The location is a bit out of the town but I would recommend talking the canal path into town and Skipton Castle is a must see.

All in all a reasonable hotel but not worth the praise that’s being heaped on it here.

What a lovely weekend! The friendliness of the hotel personel made a good weekend excellent. The staff just couldn't do enough for you. Comfort and quality standards were absolutely first-class. We particularly enjoyed the food which was not at all average hotel fare, but very well prepared and presented, with a well-designed menu for all of us.
But our enduring impression is of the warmth of the welcome.
We'll be back!

Our company treated us to a weekend away in the lovely town of Skipton, and we were booked into Herriots Hotel. It was a brilliant weekend. The hotel itself was comfortable, well organised and could do enough for us, so that we all enjoyed our stay (even the boss)

The Managers were exceptional, in particular, Mrs Oliver, who made us feel welcome.

The food was fantantic, and we also took part in the evening's entertainment, as there was a wedding on, and we were invited to join in.

Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.
