Stopped here about four years ago and it was excellent so booked again . Then saw reviews and got worried - need not have been everything was fine , room was good , staff were attentive and the food and price were of what you would expect froma decent inn.

“The Buck Inn, welcoming & good value.”

Stayed for 1 night over May Bank Holiday. The Buck Inn is a bit 'chinzy' and dated, but hey ! at £77 for double room and two good breakfasts thrown in, we thought it was good value. Dinner (of one course by our choice) was about £20 for 2 ,+ wine and was of a good pub food standard. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, but also efficient. I travel all over Europe in my job and feel qualified to say that this Inn does not perport to be a 5 star Hotel, but certainly is a decent, reasonably priced, well sited pub / hotel. The rest is up to you, get out and enjoy the surroundings !!! ( n.b. Timothy Taylors 'Landlord ale' is a terrific pint )

Just spent two nights at The Buck Inn in the Yorkshire Dales and we were very pleased with the en-suite room which, being at the front of the Inn, had lovely views. Unfortunately due to the poor weather the Inn was very quiet and could have done with a bit more atmosphere but this was not the fault of the proprietors who were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent with a great choice. The rack of lamb was delicious and fell off the fork. The wine list was extensive. They have a beautiful restaurant but again it was empty due to the lack of guests. We visited Aysgarth Falls, Hawes and The Forbidden Garden which was brilliant and a great day out for kids of all ages, this is a vast garden with hidden features and clues to track down and includes an underground tunnel with lots of surprises. Bit like a garden ghost train! We made the most of the break despite the weather but the Dales were generally very quiet at this time and I feel sorry for all the guest houses as they must be really feeling the pinch. Would definitely recommend The Buck Inn as a good central point to stay though.

“not impressed”

The Buck Inn

14 Mar 2008

stayed 1 ngt march o8. room clean but dated. barmaid friendly but did not see any locals in bar and it gernerally lacked atmosphere. food overpriced for pub food and we were only diners. so again lacking in atmosphere. overall ok for 1 ngt but wont be rushing back.

We have just returned from a nights stay at the Buck Inn, from the minute we walked in the staff made us feel at home and very welcome. The rooms where small but very clean and tidy with everything you need for a short stay. The food and scenery were superb. We tried out the walk up the hill near the inn and it gave us a challenge as were novices. The decor in the bar and dining room were traditional which added to our stay.

I would definately recommend the Buck Inn, you will receive a warm welcome.
