Overall, the Kenmare Park is fabulous, particularly if you take advantage of all the extras. Croquet, the spa, the bikes, the movie room, etc. The place just has so much atmosphere it is hard not to be charmed by it. Oh and the pool is gorgeous!

The people who run it and work there, really, could not be nicer. So personable and friendly. Seriously just amazlingly friendly but professional.

The location - fabulous! So private, with beautiful gardens and walking trails, yet also so close to the town, literally just down the driveway. The perfect combination.

The problem is when a hotel is so expensive, the tiniest little flaw becomes a mortal sin. We were offered coffee upon arrival and it never arrived. A napkin had loads of threads hanging from it (gasp!). Slightly annoying but these aren't really issues in my opinion, and not things I would normally write about on tripadvisor. But the place is so expensive, I expected perfection! My only serious issue was that the bathtub appeared to not have been cleaned properly. There was someone else's hair on the wall of the tub upon arrival ... and it was still there after it was serviced the next day. For that, I had to knock off a star in my overall rating.

But except that minor issue...it was amazing, fabulous, wonderful, etc etc. If you can afford it, definitely go!

Our 5-night stay at the Park Hotel Kenmare is an experience that is truly a memorable one. The location is incredible; melding country beauty and tranquility and easy reach to the lively center of Kenmare. The view from our room is breathtaking. The minute you walk into the foyer, you are welcome with a roaring fire (which as is turns out in on almost 24-7 except on warm days in Ireland). It's as if you've just come home. The staff is almost all Irish, all friendly and helpful and wickedly funny. The owners are on site to mingle with the guests which adds a warm and personal touch. Pampering is doled out everywhere in the hotel especially in the room, dining room and the spa facility. But what impresses me most is the way it is delivered - very unobtrusively and sincerely not at all indulgent.
The staff in the dining room should be commended for the excellent food and service. Every dish that we had was wonderfully prepared and service at every meal impeccable. On the fourth day, I had a hankering for a big salad and asked for that as a main course. I was expecting to be told that I had to "order from the menu" but instead, the "no problem" reply yielded a salad of fresh mixed green dressed in light vinegarette dressing topped with a piece of broiled salmon - just what I needed for a light dinner.
The indoor pool is impressively sleek in the design, which serves as a stark contrast to the old country estate decor in the rest of the hotel. The walk from our room to the spa area is like time travel - from the antique lined hallway into the zen room. The hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and the spa treatments are all wonderfully relaxing.
Our stay at the Park Hotel Kenmare was a wonderful and memorable experience. We were pampered from the time of check-in to check-out but it did not feel decadent. We felt like we deserved it because we were treated like guests in a home rather than residents in a hotel. The warmth and hospitality of the staff and all the Irish people that we met during our stay in Ireland more than made up for the drab and wet weather.
One last note, we don't have a single complaint about the hotel - the creaking floors and worn furniture (as mentioned in other reviews) just added to the charm of the place. We hope to return in the future.

I have never stayed at the Park as we have a house locally but eaten in their delightful restaurant on several occasions. The food and service are exemplary (special mention to John and Kieran who are excellent). The Park is in beautiful grounds in the middle of Kenmare and the restaurant and bar overlook the river and mountains. It is expensive (Euro 70 each for food plus wine) but for a special occasion a delighful place to spend an evening.

We arrived here after leaving a B&B that we didn't like. We were lucky that there were two nice rooms for our family. We were able to get a package that included a five course dinner and breakfast . I ordered coffee every morning with no charge. They were very helpful in giving us any travel info and other restaurants in the area. We liked our rooms,they were cozy and large enough. Traveling in Ireland is not cheap and we just went with the flow because a nice hotel with a bar and beautiful public areas is important.
