My wife and I love to walk / hike and because of this Kenmare is one of our favorite destinations for a weekend break of walking and relaxing. The location of this hotel is excellent as it is very close to the town centre, there is a pathway that leads from the hotel towards the town. The hotel itself very contemporary with nice decor throughout. The rooms were very good and were quite spacious we stayed in a superior room which was very reasonable. The restaurant food was excellent, I had the kenmare bay sole the first night we stayed which was delicious and perfectly cooked, we also had a great view of the kerry mountains from our table which added to our dining experience. The facilities here are very good and we both enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna (great way to start or end a day of walking). My wife treated herself to a beauty treatment which she found to be very good. Over all this hotel has everything that you would want for a weekend stay / short break. The rooms, food and facilties were all excellent making for a very enjoyable stay. We will definitely stay again in the Kenmare Bay for our next short break to kenmare.

Horrible Experience:

English girl with blonde hair at reception tried to overcharge us.

Pete the Barman was absolutely horrible throughout our meal and in general the staff made this uncomfortable.

12 of us stayed here as part of a hill walking tour of Kerry and it was marvellous, the food in the hotel was outstanding and quality and service did not suffer even when the dining room was full. The rooms and leisure centre were top class and the location was as close to the town centre as you would want. We stayed in recently renovated spacious rooms but the holiday homes looked even better and we may try them next time. Friendly staff, great food (in a town noted for its cuisine) and the right price, there are no other hotels with pools in Kenmare without spending a fortune and the Kenmare Bay is in a better location in the heart of the town, we will be back.

We stayed for 3 nights b&b with one evening meal in a superior room midweek.
Overall the hotel itself looked very nice, was quite clean and we enjoyed the gym and leisure centre.

The problem was the service in the restaurant and the restaurant itself.
Morning one for breakfast was fine.... not too many dining so maybe that was why!!!

Day two for breakfast was not so good. We were informed when checking into the hotel that breakfast would be served untill 10.30. We arrived just before ten and the waitresses started to clear all the food away at 10.10. The food itself was quite cold and the friend egg was (lets say) not fried at all..... infact very runny.

On day two we made reservations for dinner which we had as part of our package. After eating out at a beautiful restaurant the night before in Kenmare (3 courses €24) we had high hopes. Firstly when we arrived at the restaurant we were given maybe thirty seconds untill the waitress wanted our order. We were given no wine list and we were not even asked if we wanted a drink.....
Then came the food...... spring rolls for starters that we so overcooked they were hard, then main course.... Cod Goujons.... 15 arrived on the plate, small hard and tasteless... and the veg that accompained was horrible.... god bless the mashed potato.... it was the only nice thing to eat.
We didn't stay around for desert.
As for the atmosphere... none..... there was no effort made to change the atmosphere or appearance for dinner. A few candles would have went along way with dull lighting.

Day three for breakfast..... cold.... when we got coffee we realised that the milk for it was sour. (we weren't the only people to point this out). When we got the second jug of milk there was a fly in it.

On checking out I told the guy at the desk about the breakfast on the third day and he apologised... said it was unusual.....

Overall the hotel was lovely itself with a lovely leisure centre... just don't eat in the restaurant... there are far nicer in the town.

We stayed in the Kenmare Bay Lodges - never saw the inside of the hotel so can't comment on that. The Lodges were beautifully decorated with everything you could think of laid on.
