It took us a while to find the hotel, although it was plum in the middle of Main Street but that was because it had just been repainted and the signs weren't up.
Reception/check in: warm and friendly with minimal fuss
GF: Large comfortable lounge in `american' lodge style with period antique furniture, leading to Bistro and separate breakfast rooms.
Quiet comfortable hotel with sea view at front. fronts a busyish main road with off-road parking at rear of hotel for about 7-10 vehicles (turning space is tight).
Room: Our room was family size and could have taken either a bigger bed or probably a separate single bed. Room had a flat screen TV with a few satellite channels. Bath with shower over.
We had a sea view but spoilt a little by a commercial building almost exactly opposite. The hotel faces the Atlantic, and consequently suffers from cold winds and although the heating was on, it was still a little chilly.
We had problems with the plumbing which the owners tried to resolve but it really needed a plumber and as it was a Sunday afternoon that was not going to happen. To their credit they made a bath in another room available for us. Full marks for customer service!
Food: We ate a good hot breakfast (waitress served) with a wide range of options. We didn't stay full board but ate in the `bistro' on the Saturday night. A pleasant enough bar and restaurant area attended to by a Maitre D. Starters were very well presented and cooked, main meal fell down a little on taste, but none the less was a good meal. As common in both Eire and N Ireland, restaurant prices are high (London levels). We ate 2 courses, wine and coffee for 69 Euros.
Hotel has free WiFi, a large lounge area and tea/coffee on tap.
Bundoran is a typical seaside town with water park, beach, amusements, fairground and a range of pubs, cafe's etc. Lacks a few high end restaurants, but pleasant enough and well situated for exploring the area.
