When pulling thought the black iron gates into the long drive, you get the feeling of being on an Estate. Two pheasants crossed the drive on my way up to the main house. I was greeted by 2 Springer Spaniels that were so sweet. Diana popped straight out of the house and welcomed me in straight away. She offered me some coffee and sweets - homemade bread and cookies which she served in the sunny garden. They have several tables and recliner chairs in the garden. The perfect place to relax and read.

I stayed in room 3 on the second floor facing front. It had a wonderful view of the gardens and you can see the ocean in the distance. The room had a flat screen TV with lots of channels, a hair dryer, and fresh flowers but no alarm clock. There is no tea or coffee making in the room but water is provided. The bathroom had a great shower and very soft towels.

They have an honesty bar on the first floor. They set out ice, lemons, hard liquor, beer, wine and soft drinks. You help yourself to anything from the bar in the drawing room and write down what you took on a tablet. Everything is very reasonably priced. When you leave, the bar tab will be added to your bill.

Breakfast is served from 8:30-10 and the selections are on a menu. The tables have fresh flowers on them and classical music floats through the house. I had pancakes and bacon with fresh maple syrup. It was grand. There is also a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, scones, bread, juices, tea and coffee. I paid 75 Euro for a single en suite room.

The Pink Elephant rest. is just down the street and I recommend it for the view and the food. It is the best place to watch the sunset.

“Lovely at The Glen”

Glen Country House

The Glen is a beautiful country house located in Kilbrittain, about a 20 min drive from Kinsale. Diana and Guy gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our room, which was fabulous. It was large and comfortable, fitted out with tv, hairdryer, heater and ample storage. We were supplied lovely fluffy towels for the hot shower we so badly needed after a long day's travelling. The bathroom is newly renovated and fitted with a large and powerful shower - really great. Best of all - a large comfortable bed with crisp clean sheets.

Breakfast is a treat at the Glen. There is a selection of cereals, yoghurt and fruit, followed by one's choice of the hot breakfast which ranges from a full irish breakfast of sausage, eggs, bacon black and white pudding etc to what I found absolutely delicious - Fish cakes. Diana also bakes the soda bread fresh every morning, and that is served with a selection of jams and irish butter. Absolutely yum.

Too bad we only stayed one night - I'd definitely recommend a visit to this lovely B & B.

“Wonderful hospitality and comfortable elegance”

Glen Country House

We traveled to Ireland with 2 families, 4 adults and 5 children, so arranging accommodations was a challenge. Diana and Scott were wonderful from the first contact. Though we arrived late after losing ourselves a few times (entirely our fault- theGPS went out the window and the Ballinspiddle Festive and Duck Races were graciously suspended as we tried to figure out where we were), Guy was waiting for us with a very welcome chat and beer-despite the late hour. Our children loved the grounds, the tire swing, the dogs and the horses. We had a gourmet breakfast and were only sorry that our stay was so short.
We would highly recommend the Glen and their gracious hosts to any relatives, friends or other travelers heading to this breathtaking part of Ireland.

We recently toured Ireland by car, staying in high quality b and b's and guest houses. We even stayed in Ashford Castle. Glen Country House was one of our favorites. The setting and accommodations were flawless. Guy Scott made some excellent dinner reservations and provided a guidebook for lovely hikes.
This is a Wonderful find! Highest possible recommdation.
