When pulling thought the black iron gates into the long drive, you get the feeling of being on an Estate. Two pheasants crossed the drive on my way up to the main house. I was greeted by 2 Springer Spaniels that were so sweet. Diana popped straight out of the house and welcomed me in straight away. She offered me some coffee and sweets - homemade bread and cookies which she served in the sunny garden. They have several tables and recliner chairs in the garden. The perfect place to relax and read.
I stayed in room 3 on the second floor facing front. It had a wonderful view of the gardens and you can see the ocean in the distance. The room had a flat screen TV with lots of channels, a hair dryer, and fresh flowers but no alarm clock. There is no tea or coffee making in the room but water is provided. The bathroom had a great shower and very soft towels.
They have an honesty bar on the first floor. They set out ice, lemons, hard liquor, beer, wine and soft drinks. You help yourself to anything from the bar in the drawing room and write down what you took on a tablet. Everything is very reasonably priced. When you leave, the bar tab will be added to your bill.
Breakfast is served from 8:30-10 and the selections are on a menu. The tables have fresh flowers on them and classical music floats through the house. I had pancakes and bacon with fresh maple syrup. It was grand. There is also a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, scones, bread, juices, tea and coffee. I paid 75 Euro for a single en suite room.
The Pink Elephant rest. is just down the street and I recommend it for the view and the food. It is the best place to watch the sunset.
