Since the first contact with Mairead, Cloister's owner, everything was perfect. She was very helpful and a week before our arrival she send us instructions on how to get there, since the city had been under major roadwork.

So, as you can imagine, our arrival was perfect.

Mairead and her husband were extremely nice. The house was comfy and the room was perfect. Nice colors. The bed was fantastic and the room itself was very spacious for a B&B. The bathroom was small, but avarage size for a Irish B&B.

They had in each room recommendations for restuarants with average price per person.. that was very helpful for us to decide where to dine.

The breakfast was perfect. They had two prints of world news which I thought was a fantastic idea and a plus. All we ate there was delicious.

So, if you decided to go to Kinsale, this is the place to stay.

Stopping in for only one night- the beautiful town of Kinsale might have been our favorite Irish relaxation destination. John and Mairead were the perfect guides- directing us to a can't miss evening of music at one of the local pubs and some of the best fish ever at Fishy Fish. The location is wonderful- just a three minute walk from everything in town, and we slept like rocks on the comfy beds! Breakfast was one of the best we'd had on our trip. Mairead is an incredible cook and John epitomizes Irish hospitality. A place where we really felt welcome.

Steve & I have had the most fantastic break in Kinsale.
We spent 8 nights at Cloisters & now we're home, & on diets of course, we are craving Maireads breakfasts & Johns coffee!
Words are not enough to recommend Cloisters. Mairead & John welcome people into a lovely home.
Their hospitality is second to none & nothing is too much trouble.
The accommodation is maintained immacculately, the rooms are spottless, our queen size bed really comfy, plenty of tea, coffee & biscuits, always hot water from a lovely power shower, clean towels daily.
Our hosts were always keen to help in any way they could, local info, places to visit etc.
And yes, the breakfast is as good as you read on every other review!
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, full Irish breakfast, ham & egg brioche, cinnamon & sultana toast with maple syrup & of course the goats cheese, black pudding & fresh basil omelette. All perfectly prepared & presented. Fresh breads, muesli, fresh & stewed fruits.............yes really all that!
I'm raving about it & I'm a chef!
The B&B is perfectly located in a small street within easy walking distance of the restaurants & bars, but not amongst them, making it a peaceful place to stay. There's even a church & tiny castle opposite.........................bliss.
We loved it & I'm certain you will too.

I stayed at the Cloisters while in Kinsale for a friend's wedding. John and Mairead delivered everything I was looking for - a great B&B experience, and a much more friendly, personal touch than staying in one of the local hotels (and at a bargain price!)

The room was great - a lovely queen bed and ensuite bathroom, all very modern (and a wonderfully comfortable bed!). Food was tremendous, the best breakfast I've had in ages. The scrambled with salmon is good, but the full Irish breakfast was even better! They serve great coffee, and iexcellent muesli and fresh fruit as well.

John and Mairead were very friendly and helpful in everything - transportation, recommendations for meals and entertainment, trip planning. John printed off the business pages of the paper for me (i needed it for my work) and even suggested a scenic jogging route. Location is central to everything in the town.

I would heartily recommend the Cloister to anyone. The location is great, and the rooms and breakfast were the best B&B experience I've had. It felt like staying with a relative, a wonderful family-style experience and gave up nothing on room quality or food.

“How it should be !”

Cloisters Bed & Breakfast

Having had time to reflect on my second B&B experience in Ireland and to compare it to my first , Cloisters is how it should be done! Having arrived at a B&B in Galway and my wife being asked to help make the bed, no breakfast and being woken at 5 am to let ourselves out when we were ready I was a bit dubious about using another B&B.
Relatives had recommended that we try Cloisters B&B on our trip to Kinsale. It was a revelation on how B&Bs should be run!
We were greated warmly by Mairead and John who were more than helpful in giving us relavent information about Kinsale, what to see where to eat etc, based on our needs rather than their preferences.
The location was excellent, good parking and a short walk to everywhere!
The rooms were very well appointed with the beds being one of the highlights! The best nights sleep on our holiday!!!
Having acquired a taste for a good irish breakfast, I was very pleasently surprised by the food on offer for breakfast, variations on the usual offerings as well as the traditional breaksfast itself!
Who new that goats cheese and black pudding would make the most fabulous omelette! John being American, knew how to serve a good coffee! From a foodies point of view this was my expectation of a gourmet breakfast! We were only sorry that we couldn't stay for an extra few days, if not for the town, just for the bed and the Breakfast!!!!
Thank you to Mairead and John who really reaffirmed my faith in B&Bs! I will definatly be staying there again if I return to Kinsale! I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
