We were attending a friends Wedding in Kinsale in May and stayed at the Harbour Hill Farm for our three day stay in the area.

I can't say enough about this place. We loved it so much we were sad to leave. The location is a 5 minute drive outside of the town of Kinsale, up on a hill overlooking a bay. It is on a working dairy farm with fantastic views in every direction and is full of charm. The owners Nigel and Siobhan were a delight. Siobahn spent time chatting with us each morning and took a genuine interest in our visit, she made our stay a pleasure. The home was lovely and modern and very well decorated but still maintained a wonderful warm farmhouse charm.

We stayed in a room at the front the first night that was very nicely decorated. It was a perfect size with a double and a single bed, a tv, a great ensuite with a window (most didn't have windows in the ensuite). It had two nice windows overlooking the great views of the Bay and fields in two directions and great furnishings. The second night Siobhan asked if we would mind moving to another room as she had a need for our room as it had two beds. She was very apologetic and was sure to ask us if it was okay rather then just tell us it was happening. Our second room was a bit smaller with only the one double bed, but it was big enough for our needs. This room overlooked their garden and some fields in the distance. It also had a tv and a ensuite with a window and both rooms had tea making facilities. Both rooms were meticulously clean and the beds were comfortable.

There were a couple of common area rooms for our use. A sitting room, and a lovely sunroom as well as the dining room. The Gardens on the property were beautiful!

Breakfast was always great. I had delicious homemade waffles on two occasions my Husband had the full Irish each day. They also offered one of the best selections we experienced of cereals, granola, yogurts, fruit, cheeses and bread etc...

Siobhan and Nigel were so accomodating. She called a cab for us when we were heading into town for the Wedding and assured us that whenever we returned home that night the door would be open for us. They also called ahead to our next B&B so we could book it before we got there, we offered them extra for the expence of the call but they wouldn't take it. She even Ironed my dress and my Husbands shirt as we got ready for the Wedding!!

Definately would highly recommend, really hope we can go back one day!!

Our favorite B&B in Ireland

We spent two nights at the Harbour Hill Farm. We liked it best of the four B&B we stayed at during our week in Ireland. We used Aer Lingus ‘package’ vouchers, so price was not a concern.

As is evident from the other reviews and the photos, the countryside around this B&B is beautiful and the views are great, yet it is only about 2 or 3 miles from ‘downtown’ Kinsale and about a mile from Fort Charles.

Again, as others have noted, the ambiance of Harbour Hill is excellent – warm and inviting. We liked our room very much. It was spacious, had a desk, TV, good size bath, in room coffee. It was also very clean. The breakfasts were as good as any we had in Ireland, and dining in the sunroom was delightful.

Siobhan is a charming innkeeper. She was friendly, gracious, and most helpful recommending places to dine and to find music in town. We had a superb meal at the Spinnaker Restaurant which she recommended to us. We highly recommend Harbour Hill Farm!

Myself my partner and two other couples stayed here recently as we were all attending a wedding in the Carlton Hotel. The B&B itself is lovely, really clean and welcoming, the rooms were a good size, beds comfortable, bathrooms small but adequate and the breakfasts were yummy!
It is situated out in the country with lovely views from every window, a great sun room to eat breakfast in and a sitting room to chill out.

I really liked this place and would reccommend it to anyone staying in Kinsale or attending a wedding in the Carlton.

My boyfriend and I stayed here June 2-3, 2008. We didn't book in advance, which I dont recommend for the summer, but they were extremely accommodating at the last minute! We booked the day of our stay and were VERY lucky they had room for us.

We arrived late and were greeted with a warm welcome with lots of tips on where to grab dinner so late in Kinsale. Our room was large and clean, probably for a family with a double and two twin beds. Way too big for just the two of us! Our view of the garden outside was fabulous. Breakfast was served in their sun room overlooking their lovely garden again. We had quite a selection on the breakfast menu, everything from the Full Irish Breakfast to Waffles and syrup. Our hostess was friendly and sweet and chatted with the guests during breakfast.

The B&B was surrounded with vast fields and farmland. It was the perfect location for us to get to Kinsale and Charles Fort easily. We liked Harbour Hill so much we stayed an extra night! If we ever return to Ireland this will be our first stop!

  • Liked — Friendly Host/Hostess, Beautiful house and garden
  • Disliked — The water pressure in the shower was low, but that was IT!

This was our first visit to Ireland and definitely will not be our last, we stayed 3 days at the farm and can only say how fantastic and helpful our hosts were during our stay. Eveything about the farm from the room to the breakfast was just great and the atmosphere was so laid back and relaxed. We hope to return for a longer stay to continue our exploration of this wonderful country.
