We stayed here for one night - we were going to a wedding in another hotel nearby so we were not spending much time in the hotel. The hotel is very "grubby" - all the walls are scuffed, the skirting boards in the corridors are filthy and many of them had chunks taken from them (no idea how!)
The grouting in the bathrooms was all filthy dirty and the carpet in our room was stained. Clearly when the shower had to be re-siliconed, the old silicone wasn't removed and so there are several layers of old and new silicone around the edge of the shower which looks terrible.
We went to the pool the following morning - just to use the jacuzzi - it was barely lukewarm (probably the same temp as the pool) and again the grouting in all the tiles was just filthy. The shower in the changing rooms was barely lukewarm also and there was lots of hair in the drain guard.
The breakfast was just ok.. very poor selection with really just a basic fry or some cereal on offer - no meats, cheeses, fresh fruit (other than a very sour looking bowl of fruit salad), yoghurts etc. The seats in the restaurant and foyer, which no doubt when they were new were lovely, are now very tired and dirty (velvet does not score high on the durability scale!)
In the corridors, many of the light fixtures are dislodged, broken or falling off the walls.
I was very disappointed because I was expecting a four-star hotel and while I expect it was four-star when it opened first, it has been sadly neglected.
On a positive note, the staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful in giving us directions etc. It's not their fault that the hotel is in such a poor state of repair.
