This charming B&B is just a half mile or so from the famous Bunratty Castle. It felt more like my husband and I were staying with family friends which was unexpected. We enjoyed the company or our hostess and the room was great. And just a 10 minute walk down the road, you get to tour a well-preserved castle. The close proximity to Shannon airport makes the Ashgrove an ideal place to stay while still being able to take day trips out and about in southern/western Ireland. My husband and I were sad our stay was only for one night but we will be back.
The rooms were not huge but roomy. The bathroom was small but ensuite. Off-street parking. For the price we paid, it was a good deal.

Sheila and Frank are wonderful hosts. My room was clean and comfortable, and the common areas are warm and cozy. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Clare.

I stayed the night here with three of my mates and we all had a grand time! The rooms were big enough and the bathroom was good but what really made the stay was the hospitality of Sheila, our hostess. Upon arrival, we all felt incredibly welcomed when she made us irish coffee and hot crossed buns (both delicious!) and had a chat with us. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best Irish breakfasts I've had here thus far and, to top it all off, Sheila helped us get a great deal on a taxi to the Cliffs of Moher...in fact, she suggested we go there in the first place so I really have to thank her for that. It was a truly authentic Irish B&B experience and I'd love to go back.

“A Perfect Stay”

Ashgrove House

5 Mar 2008

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in the vast rolling hills and mystical scenery of the Irish countryside, whilst being charmed by your comfortable countryside quarters, look no further. Ashgrove House is perfectly located in the heart of gorgeous countryside, down the road from a period furnished castle and traditional Irish Pub, and is a bus ride from the epic Cliffs of Moher on the Atlantic, and happening Irish cities such as Galway. With comfortable beds, homemade breakfasts, a model view, and two charming Irish hosts sure to draw smiles each morning, for what more could you ask? In your morning tea, and fresh, colorful towels you'll find the typification of kind Irish manner, with all the joys of the quintessential Irish countryside stretched out before you. A stay so sweet, you'll want to come back for seasonal visits!

Perfect for holidaying students abroad (like me)!

I loved this place. My husband and I were treated like royalty. Frank and SHeila are so up beat and fun. They served us Irish coffees on arrival, and gave us brilliant advice on local attractions etc.
The grounds are really well kept and the room was cosy and warm, with a very clean en-suite bathroom.
Breakfast was yummy...lots of fruit,yoghurts,porridge,sausage,bacon,eggs,scones,breads,pancakes!!!
Rolled out of Bunratty.....
