We arrived at the hotel using the airport bus and I think we hit peak check in time. There was a big crowd waiting to check in, I say crowd because there is no queue barrier so people just kind of swarm towards
the check in desk. We were seen by the check in staff within about 10 minutes and were given all the neccesary bits n bobs.

The walk to the room was fairly short although I noticed that there was very little lighting so it was difficult to see where we were going. We arrived at our "block", which is quite literally what it is,
a big concrete block painted red. We were on the 2nd floor so we lugged our cases up the stairs to our room (no lift).

The room itself I would say is pretty average for a budget/mid-range hotel. No tea and coffee facilities or air con, but everything else you should need is there. The TV had an odd problem in that when you turn it on it came on at full volume, every single time???

The "restaurant" is average. We had breakfast which consisted of crusty bread rolls, cheese, ham, pain au chocolat and cereal, not really anough for a full day trudging round Disney? The evening meal I have to say was much better, it was about 19 Euros and for that money I would say it was just about right (just!!) they had chilli, meatballs, chicken, pork and loads of accompaniments like rice etc. This type of restaurant/food is not really my thing but for the money I have to say it was OK. The one issue I did have with the restaurant
is the number of birds flying around in there, there must have been 20
or so!!!!!!

The very least I ever expect from a hotel is cleanliness and the Santa
Fe had no real problems in that respect. However, the least I would expect from a Disney hotel is cleanliness and a smattering of magic too, but there just wasn't any at all. I know this is the cheapest of the Disney hotels but I thought they would have the odd discrete little mickey mouse shape cut out in the furniture or things like that. I'm not talking about luxury stuff, just the sort of "hey did you notice that........".

One final point is that with the Disney hotels you get early or late entry to the parks. Of the 2 days we were there 1 was an early open day. We got up at 6, went for breakfast at 7 and arrived at the park for 8. What a total waste of time!!!!!! Yes, the park was open, if that means you can go through the gate, but all the individual lands were closed. The bit just behind the castle was the only accessible part of the park but even that was all closed. We couldn't even get a coffee as all the cafes were shut!!!! The only ride open was the tea cups and carousel. The space mountain ride did open at about 9:30 but that was it. If early openings is you justification behind looking
at Disney hotels, don't bother!!!

Overall I would say the Santa Fe is an average hotel, I was just dissapointed with the lack of Disney magic.

“good time”

we stayed at the Santa Fe from tuesday untill friday. On arrival the staff were very helpfull and friendly. The rooms were very basic, and did smell a little damp. As we didnt spend much time in the hotel that didnt bother us much. the disney bus that takes you from your hotel to disney land is great appart from the VERY rude french people who try to get on the bus before you get off. The hotel is very crowded so if your after some relaxing time i wouldnt recomend it. Overall had a good time.

“bedbugs & bites!”

We stayed here for a long weekend in November to get away & enjoy Christmas at Disney! I was very worried after reading some reviews on here, but after looking at reviews of other disney hotels decided to stick with it!

On arrival & for the first few days i wondered what all the fuss was about...the rooms were basic, but not that bad & breakfasts were ok, but not amazing...

Then on day 3 both my husband & I woke up covered in bites! Bed Bugs!!!! If you get block 46 room 223 ask for another one! When I went to reception they weren't helpful & said I was imagining it & were very sharp, and when I asked for our sheets to be changed they explained that they only change the sheets once a week or at the end of every guests visit...which I thought for a hotel is pretty poor...most hotels i have been at change your sheets daily!

On the plus side the hotel is away from the busyness of disney but only a ten minute walk...apart from that there ain't much else going for it!

“Fantastic Value For Money”

Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

12 Nov 2007

Initially I was apprehensive about booking in the cheapest hotel in the resort, but I was really pleasantly surprised. The check-in was at first slow (but I soon realised that it was the other guests making a meal of the process, rather than the staff being slow), but once we were being seen check-in took a couple of minutes.

The room was clean and just what we needed - and that is, somewhere to keep our clothes, wash and sleep! After all, you don't go to the Magic Kingdom to sit in your hotel room do you? The room was cleaned every day, not sure about bedding being changed, but towels definitely were.

The breakfast wasn't particularly inspiring, but continental breakfasts never are! At least the cereal was branded (Kellogs).

Do not take any notice of the "20 minutes walk to the park", we walked briskly (mainly because the queue for the bus was huge!) and we were in Disney Village in about 10 minutes, and the walk is pleasant along a canal and then around the lake - the walk is not particularly well-lit at night though, but there are always plenty of people around and there is no need to feel unsafe.

On Saturday night we couldn't get into a restaurant at the Village within an hour (if you want to eat at any time between 7 and 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night, I would definitely recommend booking in advance) so we went back to the hotel, expecting the food to be a bit below par but we were really hungry, so decided to take the risk - the food was surprinsingly reasonable - with a Tex Mex theme, chilli con carne, fajitas, nachos, but also some kids favourites, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, chips, etc. Also a nice salad bar, and a fair choice of dessert. And infinitely cheaper at about 20 Euros for an adult, than eating at the Village (we paid 97 Euros for a meal starters to share, 2 adult mains and a kids meal with no alcohol at Rainforest Cafe, and about the same for starters to share, 2 adult mains and a kids meal with wine and beer at Planet Hollywood).

All in all, aside from the breakfast (which we didn't bother with by day 3), an excellent value for money hotel.

“Basic and shabby”

Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe for the bonfire spectacular last week. To say we were disappointed in a Disney hotel is an understatement. This is a pink, shabby, scruffy cluster of prison block like buildings. Our room was not too bad, although it was very shabby, in need of painting, and the bathroom was very basic and only just clean (good job the light was rubbish, I think) but at least the beds were comfy. No hairdryer, we had to trek back to reception and queue up for one, which cost 20 euros, and of course then we had to queue up again to return it for our deposit back, which oddly seemed to baffle them, I think they were hoping we would just leave it without getting our cash back. Breakfasts were a complete scrum - the queue on the first day was around 50 people in the corridor plus the hundreds already inside - we didn't bother and just ate in the park later. The Santa Fe may be the 'budget' option but even then it was terrible. The only upside is that it is easier and faster to walk to the park along the riverside than it is to go on the bus.
