We booked a three night stay at the Cheyenne, travelling by EuroStar and including four day passes to the parks, via the Disney booking system. No sooner had we booked than my daughter was given the date of an extra GCSE exam, but after my initial panic, Disney were fine about altering our holiday booking by a week and the only price difference was the excess on the Eurostar booking - so good brownie points to Disney there.
Six of us stayed there, myself, my husband, 16 year old daughter and her friend, and two boys of three and five. As we travelled via Eurostar we checked our luggage into the Disney Express at Marne la Vallee Station - which meant we could go straight into the parks and collect our luggage at the hotel when we checked in later that evening. That worked well and we were impressed yet again, however, a big panic when we came to leave the parks about 8.30 pm - where was our hotel?!! It was easily solved by getting on a shuttle bus outside the station, they were running about every 12 minutes and were not the sardine situation we had been warned about.
Checking into the hotel was a bit time consuming, there were long queues and only two staff on the desk. We had booked two adjoining rooms, and the receptionist when we checked in had only allocated us one room. I pointed out we had two rooms booked and she disappeared for about ten minutes, and when she came back allocated us two different rooms in different blocks. I pointed out the name she had written on the booking although similar to mine was not mine, so she snatched my letter back, disappeared again for a while, and finally came back with the details and keys of our adjoining rooms. However, that initial confusion was the only negative thing about the Cheyenne. We were pleasantly surprised by our adjoining rooms, it gave the teenage girls their individual space but knowing we were a mere door away.
Tea and coffee are not provided unless you pay for a tray (I think it was about ten Euros) and I would strongly recommend taking a hairdryer with you. Basic toiletries are provided in the bathroom, although I am glad I took our own. When we were desparate for cold drinks the girls went to the on site shop and came back laden with drinks and snacks.
The room was clean, the beds were comfy, the kids loved their bunk beds, and our sheets were changed during our three night stay. The chambermaids even put the teddy bears in a nice position so they looked like they had been sleeping during the day when we got home. We tried to persuade the toddlers to speak some basic French to the chambermaids who were genuinely impressed with their efforts.
Breakfast was very basic - but more than adquate for us. Just the usual Continental style, and on day two I found a stack of teabags which cheered me up as I don't drink coffee! Cutlery was a bit of a problem as it was always running out, and on one day I had to sneak into a kitchen to get a clean cup - but on the whole the staff are very much trying to keep up with demand. My 16 year old does not 'do breakfast' so we were taking her some croissants out for when she was hungry, and we also smuggled out some chocolate croissants as a mid morning snack for while we were in the park. There is a notice saying no food to be taken out, but to be honest as food is so expensive in the park that mid-morning smuggled food does save quite a bit of money.
We ate in the parks most days, but on our last day decided to try the evening buffet in the hotel - then immediately wished we had eaten there every night instead of just the one. It was 22 euros per adult, 10 euros for our 5 year old, and the three year old was free - apart from his drink. There is a huge selection of food, and toddlers, my vegerarian daughter, my carnivore husband and me were all really happy with the choice. I was a pig and had four puddings as I could not decide which one I wanted!
Every morning there are Disney characters available to meet and have your photo taken with - and none of the scramble there was in the main parks. There are pony rides available which our little ones loved. There was a children's park available on site and bikes to hire - sadly we run out of time and could not do all the things we had wanted to.
Although the cowboy scheme may not be everyone's first choice, I loved it, and like most things Disney do, they did this well. The whole place really has a Western theme right throughout and sitting out on the porch in the sunshine was really quite relaxing.
Would I stay here again? Certainly yes, and I think I would chose it over some of the dearer Disney hotels. We didn't have a swimming pool, but there was no time to be swimming anyway!
We arrived on a Wednesday when it was not overly busy, by Saturday it was a lot busier but still enjoyable. Checking out was easy too, just left all our luggage at the left luggage at the hotel - and it was transported to the station where we collected it very easily when we went to catch our train home.
Overall we were very happy with this choice of hotel, and would happily recommend it. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me :-)
