“Good value for money”

Explorers Hotel Disneyland

14 Apr 2008

Went here with my three kids (16,14 and 10) on own as hubby could not get time off work! Stayed for four nights. Check in was straight forward and we went straight to our room as we had been travelling for hours we needed an early night to be ready for a hectic next day in disney. Very disapointed to be kept awake by a group of all female teenagers screaming, shouting and singing as they ran from room to room, including the one above and next to us. We were surprised a Disney recommended hotel had such a large single sex party staying and would not have put a family in the adjacent rooms! By three a.m. I had had enough and had to leave my kids to go to reception and complain. To be fair the staff did come to sort it out and eventually we did get some sleep. Also they gave us another room first thing and this was much better.

Rooms were clean and the electronic safety deposit box was free to use and towels were changed daily. Breakfast was quite basic continental but was adequate for us. Paid for an evening meal one night but it wasn't up to the standard you would get in the proper disney hotels. We opted for pizzas from next to the bar for the next night and they were a really good alternative and cheap too. shuttle buses were about every twenty minutes and although packed it was bearable and anyway you are only on them for a few minutes and are either insanely excited about going into Disneyland or totally shattered from being there all day.

Having previously stayed in Disneys Cheyenne which was brilliant, we may have spoilt ourselves for this hotel, but it is still a good and slightly cheaper alternative.

Stayed at this hotel with family of 2 adults and 2 children. Traveled to Paris CDG by Air france, booked private pick up from airport to save time. This was an added advantage as there was no queuing just straight out of the baggage claim and into a waiting Mercedes Van this added to the excitement of our trip. Arrived at the hotel an was pleased with accommodation. Please note this is NOT a Disney hotel and on the theme of a ship, so those looking for the magic of Mickey Mouse to continue after the parks close this is not for you. We preferred this as it was a pleasant change after being in Disney all day. Booked a crew room for 6 to give us extra space which was great. Room had a double bed, two singles, a separate bathroom and toilet and another small room with two bunk beds, the kids loved this. They had a huge draw each under neath the bunks which they piled all there things in and a TV of there own. This also gave alittle more privacy for out teenage son who wanted time away from his little sister. There are two restaurants, one all you can eat buffet and the other al carte which serves very good mussels, this is probably the quietest place in the hotel as it gets very busy with lots of small children. There is also a pizza take away open at night and a coffee shop open throughout the day. A swimming pool with a slide that is open from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm with a dragon slide. A play area and a kids type play gym, a pirate ship play area in the center of the hotel to keep kids more than happy. The smuggler tavern pub is open in the evenings with a happy hour on cocktails from 8.00pm to 9.00pm this gets busy around this time so get there early. Breakfast was plenty full served buffet style which we had no complaints about but if you do want full english its an extra 6 euros. It does get busy between 8.30 and 9.30 so try and go before or after those times. Disney buses stop right outside the hotel and come every 10 minutes, they do get full but its only a 10 minute max ride and theres always another one just around the corner and there free. Once at the parks theres plenty to do for all the family, we were lucky the only two rides had to wait along time for were Thunder mountain and Crushes coaster, these are the two most popular rides and we waited 45 minutes but moved along all the time. The shows are fantastic, Stitch live was very funny, stunt show amazing and Tarzan was loved by all. Disney Village has restaurants and a wild west show to choose from, we went to Rain forest Cafe and Planet Hollywood both great but expensive. Went to Val de Europe shopping center which is one stop on the train and had an excellent meal in a Chinese restaurant there, nice place to visit with lots of shops and the food is cheaper than Disney. Did Paris by night tour which was great would recommend this to anyone, left Disney's New York Hotel at 9.00pm and didn't get back until 12.30 am. Great way to see all the sights and the Eiffel tower was fantastic lit up if you want to see Paris this is a great way to do it. We had a fantastic holiday even out 15 year old enjoyed it and he thought he was too old for Disney. Paris is a great place but very expensive.

“Great short stay despite the cold!!”

Just returned from a great weekend staying at the Explorers. We stayed in a crew room (2 singles, 1 double & seperate small connected room with bunk beds) this was great value for money. The rooms arn't large but are warm and comfy. The shuttle bus ran every 10 minutes and although full was never unbearable. The wait times at the parcs were good too, averaging 25mins with only the 2 new rides being 45 mins. The choice at breakfast was vast, all types of breads and pastries, fruits, cheese, yoghurts, cereals, juices, and a full English for a small supplement. The swimming pool looked amazing, with flumes and a pirate boat, shame we didn't bring our cozzies! There are plenty of play areas for the children and a well stocked Disney shop. All in all a great Hotel.

“Excellent family hotel”

Explorers Hotel Disneyland

We stayed for two nights, three days (Fri, Sat, Sun) travelling by Eurostar with our two children, 2 and 5.

Explorers is a great hotel for families, with a simply fantastic pool (not so good for really small children at peak times as there is so much going on with three slides and lots of noise etc...) but our 5 year old simply loved it (even complained we had to go to Disney park rather than swim !!!). There are also lots of other activities for younger children (soft play area etc..).

Our room was clean and a reasonable size for four people (with cot) so no complaints.

Restaurants were also fine. Evening buffet was a good choice, as toddlers eat free and there is plenty of choice.

Shuttle service to & from station and Disney parks was frequent and easy to use - you really couldn't do better even if you stayed on the "Disney complex" itself as this hotel is so near anyway.

All in all thoroughly recommended, but only for families - it is not a romantic getaway for couples!

“Great Hotel”

Explorers Hotel Disneyland

30 Mar 2008

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December. On arrival our room was not ready, but the receptionist found us a room we could go straight into which was very helpful. The hotel was very clean, even up to my Mums high standards!!!! There was also good facilities for the children, theres also a Disney shop inside the hotel. For dinner there were several options, we went for pizza which was tasty! Breakfast was ok, lots of choice but also lots of people! Disney Land was amazing.....the bus service to and from the hotel was frequent.
