I stayed at the Explorers for 4 nights with my 4 year old daughter, my mum and my sister. This Hotel is all about the children and my little girl had the most amazing time in the pool, which stays open till 11pm if you still have the energy!! the soft play area, the indoor pirate ship, the childrens gym, there is so much for them to do. However there was no evening entertainment and a bottle of wine cost 17e so grown ups beware!! The Hotel was very clean and the breakfast nice enough. Continental with lots of pastries, fruit and yoghurt . You can have an english for 6e if you prefer. We paid for the buffet one evening and would say the food was ok but you can eat better at disney for the same price. However the ice cream machine attacked me covering me in pistachio ice cream causing a huge giggle between myself and a group of school children. The pizzas are a cheaper option and very very yummy. The free shuttle bus is very regular and you soon learn that its every man for himself. However Disney is the most Magical place. I am a 32 year old mother and was very close to tears at the sight of sleeping beauty's castle and my little girls face when she watched the parade (which is a 5pm but get your position early as i found grown ups even pushing the little ones). I highly recommend booking the character breakfast at cafe Mickey as it gives the little children and the big kids among us a chance to get more personal with the characters as they visit your table individually and is an amazing experience and very reasonable. Don't forget your autograph book and camera!! If you have little children you can hire stollers at disney for 7.50e a day which i found a great service. There were a couple of things that niggled me though. A couple of people on reception laughed at my bigger sized sister which upset her greatly and also there wasn't a consistent pricing at the bar!! The rooms are comfortable and so were the beds and there is a disney boutique in the hotel which is handy for those last minute pressies. This is a great hotel for younger children and would highly recommend it, and the pool is a great for older kids later in the evening as they open all the cascades. if you fancy a glass of wine, nip to val de europe and buy it quite cheap in the local supermarket! I was very impressed at the disney hotel at the entrance of the park but after reading the reviews i'm really happy i stayed where we did. Its not stuffy, and has a brilliant atmosphere for kids. One final tip, make sure you wear the comfiest shoes!!!! and bring the kids disney costumes!! and remember, your never to old to believe in magic and prince charming...and Mickey. Have a wonderful time! as its one you'll never forget x

“Great value! Bad maidservice!”

We (myself, husband and two children aged 4, 6) stayed at the hotel in the beginning of January this year. We felt that everything was great accept for the maidservice. My daughter spilled her drink all over her bed on the first night and we asked the maid to change her sheets the following day (and to give my daughter a new pillow) (we took them off and put in the bathtub) the maid however took them out of the bathtub lpand threw them on the floor next to my daughters bed where they remained for four days, not exactly heful or service minded =(

Other than that everything was fine and the children loved it.

I have just returned from this hotel and as a family of 5 we loved it.
We had 3 kids a 2 year old a 6 year old and an 8 year old.
The Hotel was spotless. The food was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was loads for the kids to do at the hotel, playing on the Pirate ship, at the pool, in the kids gym and the Arcade.
The only thing I would say that could've improved was that the pool water was cold, my 2 year old was shivering for the full time he was in the water and I had to take him out.
The other 2 kids didn't bother though.

It was very easy to get to and from the parks with the shuttle bus that was put on.

I would definatley recommend or return to this hotel!!

Our family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 kids age 6, 4 and 3 stayed at the explorers for 3 nights. We loved it from start to finish. The hotel although not as impressive looking from outside as some others was faultless. The rooms were basic but adequate plus we spent very little time in them and it was only somewhere to put our heads at end of night. The reception staff were extremely pleasant on our arrival on a wet, cold day in March and it got the break off to a good start. Our kids headed straight to the soft play area and then onto the swimming pool which is fantastic with slides and a pirate ship although neither of these are supervised but that was not a problem as my husband and I were both there. My kids are fairly fussy and basic eaters so we tried the pizza and chips at the hotel which are extremely good value for money and delicious.

Breakfast was good, we didn't try the cooked breakfast as the continental was adequate. The children loved the pain au chocolats for breakfast! Getting to disney was so easy, simply go out to bus stop and wait. We never waited any more than 15mins and it was busy but we expected this and we pushed and shoved with the rest of them.

Disney is fab, once you get used to queuing, the rides are great and there is loads for the younger kids although the rides marked family fun were a bit too much for my youngest. Pirates of the Caribbean scared the 3 and 5 year old but the rest of us loved it. Buzz Lightyyear was the favourite with us. The parades are good but get a good seat early and wait as the people will push through to the front. The one thing that amazed me about the Disney park was the cleanliness there is no overflowing rubbish bins etc and the toilets are spotless.

All in all 10/10 and we hope to return again and definitely will book the explorers.

“Fabulous Hotel”

Explorers Hotel Disneyland

24 May 2008

Excellent hotel with plenty for the family to do. Staff were friendly, the pool was fine (if v cold!) and the play areas were very enjoyable (my 4 year old tells me!).

Food at the restaurant was good and the pizza from the hotel takeaway was lovely. The bus service was cluttered but very regular.

Room was excellent as there were only two of us. The lack of towels and basic toiletries was a bit annoying but easily rectified. Several guests told us this was the best hotel they'd stayed in on site. Would recommend it highly and look forward to going back.
