Stayed here many times over the years, and never disappointed. This time staying in the top rooms with huge balcony overlooking Vejle fjord. Stunning rooms, relaxing, stylish decor, large bathroom. Bed have electronic controls to move the mattress into the position required!!!These rooms have their own lounge area with candles, newspapers etc. Everything is about luxury and understated style. Food in restaurant very good, with lovely views. Weekend breakfast is awsome, with a 'freshly cooked' station for omelettes, fried eggs etc.
Spa area, was quiet and relaxing, lovely pool. Hotel gets busy with visitors to the casino in the evening. Lovely walks, and wildlife in the forest.

Room tip: The new top rooms are a joy with a balcony altho all the rooms are very comfortable.

Decor very dated throughout the hotel, carpet was quite faded, lots of wood.
Food was actually quite delicious and the view from the dining room was wonderful. I wish my room faced in that direction !
I was there for a business trip, with meetings held at the hotel.
Room faced the parking lot so didn't really get to enjoy the view
Staff was very friendly and helpful
No iron or bathrobe in the room, had to go to the ironing room used by the entire hotel so had a wait as all my colleagues also needed to iron their clothes .

Hotel and room
Surprisingly large hotel with adjacent casino. Views over the fjord are amazing so why oh why not make use of the large terrace for serving coffee/tea/lunch? Interior is quite dark and it seems as if all rooms are facing to the not very interesting side of the hotel overlooking the parking lot and trees. I was in room 168 at the very far end of a hallway and it was very quiet. The room was nice, spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable.

Staff
Reception staff was very friendly, service-minded and efficient while the staff in the restaurant seemed as if they couldn't care less. When I asked a waiter about the desserts on the buffet as there were no signs indicating what it was, I got a cheeky answer by a waiter that it was some sort of dessert and to just go for it all and throw out what I didn't like, I wouldn't be charged extra. What kind of answer is that? Entering the restaurant and seeing the view over the fjord for the first time I said "wow, what a great view" while several waiters were just downstairs and one of them - facing us - answered "thank you, the same to you". Ok... At a 4 star hotel?
The bar that served both drinks and coffees wasn't serviced throughout the day except if you'd ring a bell. Useless if nobody turns up despite us ringing the bell 5-6 times in a row and calling the staff passing by without anybody reacting. As the restaurant coffee was pretty rubbish I wanted to order a latte at the bar (this is 8.30am). When finally, a waiter turned up, he clearly had no clue how to operate the coffee machine and claimed that it wasn't switched on and that it needed at least 10 mins to start up. As I was in a rush then I said I didn't have the time to wait for it and that I would return later. 1.5 hrs later: again no service. The waiter who then couldn't ignore me any longer turned up and now stated that the machine required a full hour before it was heated and that it wasn't switched on yet and they would typically only serve in the afternoon!!! I said that I had been asking for a latte over an hour earlier - he only shrugged his shoulders... At my third attempt early afternoon I finally got that latte. It took ages but at least the quality was good.
One of my colleagues had asked for a beer and the waitress at the time said that she was new in the job and didn't know where they kept the beer my colleague had ordered. Full stop. ???!!!
This is ridiculous.

Food
We had lunch buffet on two consecutive days. Food was abundant and a large variety of dishes was served. Some of them being the same as the day before. There were no spectacular surprises, it was ok and not much more. For dinner, we were served a set menu with a mains and dessert. Better quality than at lunch.

We were there for 2 days for business meetings. I would not return.

Mix feelings about this hotel. The surroundings, the reception, the view from the restaurant are great ! The rooms are old but still ok. We were there during a hot season and no air conditioning which made us sleep the window open and we were afraid of mosquitos, but that went well. The swimming pool and the spa marvelous : clean, beautiful ! That was the best part.
The restaurant : we ate there for dinner outside with a great view and very good food. The staff we had was very nice and even though my daughter's dish was late, they were apologetical and very nice. For the breakfast in the morning, the staff was rude, taking the food right in front of my wife as she was reaching to grab bread just because it was 10am and they wanted to stop the service ! But even worse was when we went to have lunch and the server was rude to start with and when asked to sit in front of the window to have the view just brushed us off saying that we don't serve the tables for lunch in front of the window, only the ones 2 rows further. Which was literally a 2 meters distance ! I had it and left the restaurant ! Awful service in morning and lunch !

The hotel is in a beautiful place and the view from the restaurant is great. The facilities are a little old but it is not a problem. Uunfortunately their service is far below from that of 4 stars hotel. They were rude and unfriendly. If this hotel was 2 stars, I would accept their behaviors.
