We visited the Mercure Grand with some friends in March. We had been to the hotel previously about 10 years ago and it had been a very pleasurable visit. However we were dissappointed to see that the rooms were unchanged and looking very tired. We had booked superior rooms but assumed we were paying extra for the view! The communal areas of the hotel have been modernised however to a good standard if not a bit bizarre! The breakfast room has some particularly strange paintings on the walls! The breakfast was better on some mornings than others dependant on how many guests were staying I presume. On one evening we lost all electricity to the rooms and our friends had to move to another floor at 11pm. The following evening after returning from a day out we had no hot water! This was rectified however within the hour.
Le Touquet is a lovely little town if not very expensive for shopping with a number of very good restaurants at a reasonable cost if you go for the meal of the day. We were lucky in that the weather was fantastic for spring and we didnt have to spend too much time in the hotel!
