“So Comfortable and Convenient!”

Crowne Plaza Venice East - Quarto d'Altino

We were very pleased with our stay at the Crowne Plaza in Quarto d’Altino during the first week of May 2008. The room was very big and comfortable. I loved the bathroom, especially the giant tub. It was great to relax in it after a long day of walking. The room was very clean except for some dings on the walls and marks on the curtains.

We drove during our trip and were happy with the parking lot behind the hotel. We were delighted to find an ice machine on our floor (the first we'd seen in a European hotel) and were glad there was a fridge in our room. We accessed the Internet through an Ethernet cable in the room and the service cost 7 euros per 24-hour period.

The hotel is a great place to stay if you are visiting Venice. The train station is directly behind the hotel (you walk through a little tunnel under the tracks to the station) and you can get train tickets at the front desk of the hotel. We were given our first set of tickets for free and paid a little more than 2 euros per ticket the rest of the time. I was a little nervous about taking the train into Venice but the staff was great and gave us a train schedule with our tickets and explained exactly what to do and how to get there. It turned out to be very, very easy and I felt silly that I had been nervous! If we were able to visit Venice again we would definitely choose to stay at this hotel.

“A great place to stay!”

Crowne Plaza Venice East - Quarto d'Altino

11 May 2008

We throughly enjoyed our 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza. The staff was courteous and very helpful. Our room was clean and equipped with everything one could think of to make our stay relaxed and comfortable. The food in the dining room was delicious and presented attractively. The hotel is located next to the railway station and we were given complementary tickets to ride into Venice. We also appreciated the suttel service to and from the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Venice.

Stayed in this hotel just before Christmas for 4 nights. It was easy to reach from the airport once you worked out which bus to catch at the airport. When we got to the hotel the staff obviously had no record of us staying but we showed them our printed receipt and they quickly found us a room. When we got to the room we thought there had been some kind of mistake. It was HUGE! The bed was so comfortable and the biggest I'd ever slept in. The bathroom had a large corner bath and a double shower. Perfect for relaxing after a long day walking through Venice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was basic, and more of a continental taste such as hams and cheeses. Most days i just had toast. We had an evening meal and the price was quite steep and the food wasn't very fancy, but anywhere you eat in Venice is overpriced.
The main criticism I have is the lack of amenities in the town. We couldn't find anywhere to eat in the town so we stayed in Venice for dinner most nights. However, I think it wouldve been a lot harder to find a hotel if id chosen to stay in Venice. The train stations right outside so you dont need to search for it.
The train journey into Venice was reasonably priced and around one per hour, although there was a 2 hour gap between trains in the morning, so you either have to get the train at 10.30ish or wait til 1.
I probably would stay in this hotel again if i could get a good rate.

We had a 2 night stay here en route to the Dolomites for a ski trip. The hotel is located in a small, attractive but uninteresting little town 25 minutes by hourly rail from Venice. Internally it is almost new, very spacious and pleasant. A call to the hotel prior to arrival or even, as in our case, from the airport, gives free access to a taxi for the 10 minute journey. Similarly a free taxi service is available for return. The train station is adjacent and the fare is less than €5 each return to Venice.
The room we had was large and well appointed with flat screen sky TV for UK, Italy, and Germany and a large bright new bathroom with bath and shower.
Dining is good but fairly basic with less well trained staff than is normal in Italy. Breakfast is a very good buffet.

    • Liked — High standard of the hotel internals and the easy access to Venice
    • Disliked — Dining is not of the same standard as the rest of the hotel

We stayed at this hotel at the end of October and were very pleased with the level of service. We stayed in a standard queen room and it was very spacious and clean. There were a few issues with the maintenance of the room such as a broken bin lin, curtains not hung correctly and a shower head that didn't stay upright, but we learnt to live with them. The room service was excellent with bedding and towels changed every day (a bit excessive, but nice).
The is a resturant attached to the hotel that serves good food at reasonable prices although the menu is limited.
The staff at reception were very helpfull and efficient, particularly when helping you plan your train journeys into Venice. The train station is right behind the hotel and you can buy return tickets from reception for under 5 euros each. The train takes about 25 mins into Venice and most of the trains are wheelchair / pushchair freindly.
The hotel is in a nice location and we didn't find the journey into Venice everyday inconvenient, even with a young child. In fact watching hundreds of tourists dragging suitcases over bridges and into boats made us glad we hadn't stayed in the city itself.
The only downside of staying on the mainland was that once you were in Venice you were there all day, with nowhere to rest or get changed for dinner (unless you want to take the train back). This didn't poise a problem for the first 2 days that were fine and sunny, but on our final day it rained all day. We had been in Venice since 9am and by 3pm we were a bit cold and damp despite our frequent stops at coffee bars and it would have been nice to have somewhere nearby to rest, shower and change and then go out for the evening. Overall though, the standard of the hotel was much higher than most in the city so it was worth the sacrifice.
