From the moment we confirmed booking of this hotel with their reception I knew we'd made a great choice, they were so helpful in the booking process and made us feel welcome before we'd even arrived, arranging transfers for us and keeping us informed with our booking.
We arrived to our taxi transfer waiting to collect us, and when we arrived at the hotel our greeting was so warm and friendly, they greeted us by name and served us a glass of sparkling wine to relax before showing us to our room. Because we'd arrived later than dinner serving times, we were given a voucher for a lunch on the day we left to make up for it. And oh boy you don't wanna miss a meal here!
So we were shown to our room which was two glass lift rides down, at first it seemed a little confusing, there are 4 lifts in total if you were to travel from beach to reception but its easy once you've been there a day or so. Our room, like every room here, had an amazing sea view and because we were on honeymoon we had rose petals scattered on the floor and towel swans on the bed, plus champagne and fruits awaiting us.
We quickly ordered some late room service dinner, which was fabulous, very large portions and delicious, a taste of the food to come for the week.
Bed was very comfy, bathroom has a window through to the bedroom, with a blind for those who wanted to maintain some privacy (i kept the blind down the whole week, the toilet door is opaque glass and could perhaps leave little to the imagination!) the toiletteries were all high end Korres and were replenished daily. Bath was a whirlpool which was lovely.
The food on half board was absolutely sensational, can rate it highly enough, their chefs must work their butts off every single day, half board is a MUST if you stay. We were worried that if we kept on half board we wouldn't get that good food and would spend a fortune on eating out in Lindos every night, OH HOW WRONG we were! we ended up only having one dinner out in Lindos which was the most highly rated restaurant the hotel could recommend at the top of Lindos Bay, very expensive, great wine list etc, but still not as nice as the hotel food!
So breakfast was the first meal to be impressed by, fabulous selection ranging from breads, cakes, pastries, a full continental selection of meats and cheeses, approx 8 hot dishes and then the egg bar where the lovely chef would cook omelettes etc to order. A whole stand for the fruits and yoghurts......oh the list goes on, but no way could you go hungry with all that on offer. I ate something different every single day of the week and the fab waiters and waitresses couldn't do enough to help you.
We ate lunch only one day, the day we left, instead of dinner using the voucher we'd had from our 'missed dinner' on arrival. Our voucher entitled us to 3 courses but oh lord there is no way I could've eaten that much! We both had salads to start but they were enormous (and delish) and then a main course each, plus breads and dips. Was fantastic.
Dinner, now this was worth the trip alone and if you stay here you'll understand why we chose to stay in and eat dinner at the hotel mainly as its hard to beat. There is a set menu for half board, you have an option of soup to start (we never had it as we would've been too full otherwise) and then the buffet of appetisers......i say appetisisers but these could easily be the main course! breads, cold starters, hot starters, salad bar, chefs speciality, the list goes on! Wine list was good too, very impressed. And then the main course is a daily choice of meat, fish and vegetarian, all were Michelin star impressive. Small enough portions that you didn't feel too much of a piggie for having the starter too, and all were served beautifully, with jus' and foams and all sorts of accompaniments that were to die for.
So after all that eating I did check out the hotel gym most days to work off the calories, two treadmills, bike, weights etc, perfectly adequate equipment although the air condiitoning could do with being turned up in there, as i could only visit early morning or after 6pm as it was in direct sunlight and just too warm. Fresh towels and water on hand.
The bar besides the reception, Luna Lounge I believe, is lovely with views over the bay and a fantastic (bit expensive) cocktail list, would've loved to have tried all of the list!!
Pools were both lovely, we only used the smaller lower level pool as this was closer to our room, only gripe was the lack of nearby toilets to use but had full bar service using the telephone point by the pool and was paradise for us every day, very quiet setting and small enough for us to get beds every day. Not sure it would be that easy if the hotel was at full occupancy though.
We did walk into Lindos itself one day, its not an easy walk and a bit treacherous onthe main road, but if you're fit and healthy then give it a go, or just get a taxi from reception!! Lindos itself is beautiful and take some time to explore all of the higgledy piggledy small roads (its pedestrianised so no fear of being run over!) and you can spend hours there just getting lost and shopping/drinking/eating!!
Overall this trip was everything we wanted and some more, it was pure luxury, service that has been unrivalled in other 5 star hotels across the world and food to die for.
I thank each and every one of the staff who made our stay so memorable, if you're looking for an adult only resort the this has to be the only hotel in Rhodes to stay, you won't be disappointed
